If I had to make my best guess as of now, I’d say the lineup is as follows:

    Denis Arndt, Heisenberg

    Denee Benton, The Great Comet

    Anthony Azizi, Oslo

    Cate Blanchett, The Present

    Jon Jon Briones, Miss Saigon

    Beanie Feldstein, Hello, Dolly!

    Madison Ferris, The Glass Menagerie

    Josh Groban, The Great Comet

    Eva Noblezada, Miss Saigon

    Alison Wright, Sweat

If Simon McBurney is eligible (he has directed on Broadway before The Encounter, but not performed. So I think he is?) Then he could make a play. Dave Hearn or Nancy Zamit are I think the likliest from The Play That Goes Wrong. Michael Xavier, Amber Gray, Bobby Conte Thornton, Nick Kroll, and John Mulaney are also strong possibilities.

For the most part they skewed younger. Which is great for many of these actors at the beginning portions of their careers. Still shocked Anthony Azizi didn’t make the list though.

I’m so happy for Carlo Alban, who turns the character with the least amount of stage time into the beating heart of “Sweat.” And Amber Gray was my favorite part of “The Great Comet” so glad she was recognized somewhere.

Very happy for these winners, but especially Barrett Doss and Lucas Hedges. It’s funny, and one of those vagaries of theater awards, that Jon Jon Briones has been associated with Miss Saigon since its London premiere in 1989 and now in 2017 he’s winning a “debut” award.

ETA: But shocked Denis Arndt wasn’t included. (He was eligible, right?)

    For the special awards:

Katrina Lenk will receive the Dorothy Loudon Foundation Award for Excellence in Theatre for her performances in both Indecent and The Band’s Visit.

Glenn Close will receive the John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.

Dave Malloy will receive the Special Theater World Award in recognition of his Broadway debut as a composer, writer, lyricist, orchestrator and actor for Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet Of 1812.
