http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/12/02/exec-who-canceled-abc-soaps-is-leaving-network/ According to this article from Entertainment Weekly, Brian Fronz has decided to leave ABC. The network is merging daytime and syndication departments and will be headed by another executive. It's just sad that he didn't leave BEFORE he made the stupid decision to cancel two beloved icons of American history. I don't think he left on his own accord its more like ABC is combining 2 agencies so now in addition to all jobs lost from OLTL, AMC, you can add some corporate jobs lost ( their is no way they won't downsize when they combine both departments). I don't even think NBC or CBS have a daytime president anymore so you can add ABC too |

Frons deserved to be fired in disgrace years ago. Whether he resigned on his own or was given his walking papers, the hatchet-man effectively killed ABC daytime and now gets to walk off into the sunset. There's no satisfaction in this. He got away with it.

While I'm quite happy with this news, It does have a feeling of too little too late. He almost single handedly ruined ABC daytime. At least maybe now with him and JFP gone, General Hospital can get back some of its heart and dignity and end on a high note (if the rumours of it being gone soon are true). |

The most infuriating part to me is that when Frons inherited ABC Daytime from Angela Shapiro he got a slate of well-rated, creatively satsisfactory shows that were relatively profitable. and he slowly but surely did everything in his power to ruin, destroy and dismantle each and every one of them. He robbed each of them of their integrity, their spirit, their personality and what made them tick. He reduced "AMC" to a bunch of blonde, Babe look-alike's all fighting over Ryan and Zach, and pushed all of the core characters to the sidelines. he force fed couples nobody cared about and turned it into a pale shadow of it's former self, and then acted shocked when ratings plummetted. He blamed it on "lack of interest". He took "OLTL", the most creatively successful show on their line-up and turned it into a pale imitation of a CW show. He robbed viewers of core veteran characters like Dorian and Viki while forcing us to watch hour upon hour of Jenn Rappaport and Rex. He insulted viewers time and time again by making Natalie the star of the show. He did the most damage to "GH" where he took an Emmy-winning series renowed for it's heart and soul and turned it into a dark, heartless show focused only on ruthless mobsters and their trampy lovers. He sidelined all characters older than 35 and made anybody not in the mob a virtual day-player at best. He blamed viewers when they tuned out in droves, after years of watching a beloved insitution reduced to sharpnel.
