Listen, those lucky enough to have already seen PROMETHEUS but are just dying to complain and ruin it for the rest of us: PLEASE FLAG YOUR COMMENTS IF THEY CONTAIN SPOILERS! Some of us want to go into the movie with a fresh, unbiased perspective and we really don't want to read your spoilers about a "convenient afternoon abortion machine," whatever the ef that is... |

I take that as a political comment, far more than any true description of the film. The Sunne in Splendour; I prefer my Roses White |

I'm typically not someone who would go see a science fiction movie, but this one looks really amazing and Charliez Theron is sort of my new obsession this month so I'm dying to see this.
Finola Hughes was robbed this year!

Why would you read to the end of a thread about a film on general release if you want to 'go into a movie with a fresh, unbiased perspective'??? Whilst I understand that spoilers are annoying, you have to take some personal responsibility to make sure you don't encounter them. Avoiding threads about films you are yet to see might be a good start. |

So, your lack of manners is everybody's else's problem? Sorry not buying it. And please spare us the lectures about "personal responsibility" -- between that and your bizarre reference to "convenient abortion," you sound like a typical self-righteous right-wing gasbag. |

PROMETHEUS Even at two hours, the narrative seemed rushed and glossed over too many things. And the relationship between the lead Noomi Rapace character and the "Tom Hardy's Clone" character was frankly unconvincing. (I agree with James Franco, who saw the film and wondered why every character is such a "dick.") Most annoying of all was that bizarre Christian subtext; in the original movies, Ellen Ripley fought for her fellow crew members and for orphaned children, not for the right to wear a cross around her neck. Still, I liked many things about the film--it was beautifully made and exquisite to watch, with mysteries wrapped in enigmas, and echoes of the original ALIEN, as well as Michael Fassbender's iconic "David," an android who styles himself after Lawrence of Arabia as portrayed by Peter O'Toole, and who joins the pantheon of cinema's greatest villains-slash-robots. Grade for PROMETHEUS: A- |

!SPOILER ALERT! Now I understand what Baby Clyde meant by "convenient afternoon abortion machine," which says a lot more about his mental health (e.g., a "foetus" with eight arms and razor-sharp teeth) than it does the movie... |

I've been called many things but never this??? A loony left, bleeding heart liberal gasbag maybe, but I'm about as right wing as Barbra Streisand. You seem to have taken my comment as some kind of political statement on a woman's right to choose when it was nothing of the sort. |

Pleased to hear it and thank you for explicating. I regret misunderstanding your original post, which sounded like one of those anti-abortion barbs that former Academy darling Diablo Cody larded into her screenplay for JUNO... |

Finally saw this today. I quite enjoyed it, even if I was mildly disappointed by the screenplay. It's very well made in every respect, and the cast is solid, though no one can compete with Michael Fassbender's David, worthy of a Supporting Actor Oscar nomination. There are several plot strands left open and it blatantly hints at a sequel, but even still I enjoyed this film's journey especially whenever David was on screen. I'd give it a "B+". |
