^Jackman practically has the Comedy/Musical Globe for Les Mis.
I honestly think so too. I wonder where the Globes will place Hathaway? They put Cotillard in Lead for 'Nine', so they may put Hathaway in lead as well, despite it being a supporting role.

If hathaway goes lead that would be such category fraud, Amanda as Cosette is more lead but the true leads are Javer and Jean (Hugh and Russell), i think les miz will get two lead actors at globes but crowe will go supporting for oscars, hathaway along with every other cgaracter going supporting.

The Globes will category fraud all night if they land more stars.

But if they stay true to the musical her character is in for about 20 minutes then back again for the finale. I think Kristen Wiig could win the comedy/musical actress or meryl streep.

I doubt Meryl wins the Globe this year. She even lost one to Sally Hawkins, so unless GHS is a serious Oscar vehicle (it's not), Meryl is not winning, even if it is only a globe.

I have a feeling Hathaway could go Lead for the Globes and win, then go supporting. If "Silver Linings Playbook" is classified as a comedy then I can see Jennifer Lawrence winning the globe.
I totally agree. But as for Streep losing to Hawkins, well, that was kind of no contest. I'll watch 'Happy-Go-Lucky' and Hawkins' wonderful performance a million times before I'd ever watch 'Mamma Mia!' again. Lol

Right now I am willing to say that Best Adapted Screenplay will be dominated over the next 2 years by The Hobbit films.

Hawkins is far and away my winner that year but she was far from a star so I had doubts she would actually win the Globe. "Mamma Mia" was terrible but it was box-office juggernaught. It even became the UK's highest grossing film ever. Plus, I knew Winslet was winning the Drama Globe no matter what so I thought they would give Streep and the film wins in Comedy/Musical, because going by Globe logic it was entirely possible. Thank God that didn't happen!

You knew Winslet was winning the Drama Globe no matter what? She was nominated there for "Revolutionary Road" and in Supporting for "The Reader" and she was only a lock to win the latter. Her second win of the night, this time in lead, came as shock (or at least big surprise). And giving acting award to Streep for "Mamma Mia!" and not for "Doubt" would be... disgraceful.

I already asked this in another forum a week ago, but no-one's touched it

when does GD start the odds-making?

I would guess at least after six months, ~Sept/Oct.

is that official policy?

I was thinking the middle of July.

again, I ask is that official?

Yep. Even if she didn't have The Reader, she was going to steamroll over award-season that year . It was simply her time, everybody knew it.

LMAO.
MM! was NEVER meant to be an awards player. It is joyous , yes, even brainless fun. No more, no less.
But okay, whatever. It will always have a special place in my heart-I just love it. The concequences (success and all) resulted finally into Meryl's third Oscar win. (Thank you, Phyllida!)
I've seen Happy-Go-Lucky only once, but it was a great performance by Sally Hawkins and she deserved the Globe win and the Silver Bear. It was more a shock to me she didn't even got nominated at the BAFTAs. That was a major slap in the face, I think. This and the snubs at the Critics Choice and the SAG was sadly the prevision she'll get snubbed at the Oscars, too.
Rooney Mara was very lucky to get in this year, with only the Globe nod.

Obviously Mamma Mia!'s atrociousness wasn't going anywhere past the Globes. But popcorn flicks do particularly well with Comedy Globes.g. Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes

I'm campaigning for I Believe in Love by Alan Menken for Original Song, I think it can happen \o\

You should keep on campaigning for this because this is a great song. And plus this movie shouldn't have been hated by critics by so much. Critics just hate Tarsem Singh. That is why it got bad reviews.

Anyone who had read The Silver Linings in Playbook can tell if Jennifer Lawrence's character (Tiffany) has a powerful scene?
