'HOPE SPRINGS' TRAILER: Posted elsewhere, but appropriate here: http://themoviebox.net/1070 This looks like it's going to be really good. Also, I had no idea Elisabeth Shue is in this! ![]() |

I do think the hair actually fits her character. Nothing will ever top that horrible hair cut in ACITD. Ever. ![]() Looks like it's going to be a nice film with some funny scenes. Globe nom? You bet. ;)

Yep she looks like a slam dunk for a nomination, but I don't see her winning at all. The film looks better than I thought, and Legend has never looked so gorgeous and sexy in a while. Must go see this film! |

Naa, I doubt she'll win so soon again. They never awarded her three times in a row. (even she had double nominations in 2010, I think it can be seen as a back to back win, or not?) Just another nomination.^^

Yeah she's won 3 globes in a matter of 5 years, and I think 5-6 in the past. Aren't those hard to win? Yet shes taking them like candy at a parade lol. I'm sure she can sit things out this way around. She has A:OC coming up that I'm strongly looking forward to. |

Winning is a different case. This year we have "Les Miserables" (with possible spots for 2 out of 3: Amanda Seyfried, Samantha Banks and Anne Hathaway), Emily Blunt, Diane Keaton (both "Darling Companion" and "The Wedding"), Laura Linney, Kristen Wiig, Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts in the field. Especially Linney, Wiig and Lawrence look promising. And, who knows, maybe "To Rome with Love" and "Friends with Kids" will make a showing too. So the competition is not super-strong but still decent. But nomination should be easy to get. The trailer looks very good, Streep and TLJ provide very interesting, believable dynamic. A little disappointment is Steve Carell being the responsible one in the room, thus potentially less funny than he usually is. As for summer little filler movie to spend time nicely with the other half, it looks perfect. There's hope that Meryl will do a better job here than in rather disappointing "It's Complicated" for which she got Globe nod. But that's not usually the kind of film that screams "Oscar". There are exceptions: Renee Zellweger for "Bridget Jones's Diary" and Diane Keaton for "Something's Gotta Give" but I'm not sure it will happen again with Meryl here as she has just won her 3rd Oscar out of 17 nominations. To come back she'll need something heavier, like "August: Osage Country" which is not that far away and voters know that. |

I loved Tommy Lee Jones in this! That little smirk in the end is priceless. Hope this, along with Men in Black 3, puts him back on top. I definitely see this getting showered with noms at GGs for Streep, Lee Jones, and Best Comedy. Carrel's character does seem a little serious to be getting the laughs and hence he's probably out for a Supporting nod. |

I dont know why i have this feeling, but i see this film as a failure for all concerned.. in the same class as Rendition and Prime.. thats fine...Streep needs a year off from just being Meryl Streep...movie comes out in August, fails and is closed and on DVD by November.. then we can have a totally quiet year waiting for august osage county 1 complete calendar year later.!! |

^I actually love how she does Commanding Oscar worthy performances and switches back to relaxing comedies like this and Prime. (I didn't like It's Complicated however.) I dont see this film being a total failure though since Streep has a wide fanbase, but I do see it getting mediocre reviews/box office success. |

I think it's "A Cry in the Dark". That hair is hard to forget. The Sunne in Splendour; I prefer my Roses White |

I see the similarities between this and Prime. That movie was total bore, hope this one's not. I have a feeling the cast will save it from total disaster, and I don't really know much about the screenwriter Vanessa Taylor, but I know she is one of the writer of this season's Game of Thrones, so if that's any indication she'll write up a decent story. And unless it is a total dud like the director's last movie (the Steve Martin-Jack Black-Owen WIlson comedy, remember?) I think this will be a hit. I'm looking at Iron Lady's numbers and currently its worldwide gross is 115 million. So if people went in to see Meryl for that, more will definitely see this comedy. |
