Looks like we have our next HBO contender. Aaron Sorkin + series about cable news + political relevance + award recognized cast = awards magnet.

I read a comment about this show trailer that it looks like the classic 70's film Network. If it was inspired we all know sorkin's love for the film as he mnetionaed it in his oscar speech. |

I love Sorkin like nobody's business, but a lot of this trailer gives me Studio 60 flashbacks. |

Aces trailer, and Jeff Daniels already looks Emmy-worthy here. Really looking forward to this one.

Aaron Sorkin coming off of an Oscar win, and allowing his admiration for Paddy Chayefsky to run rampant, with Jeff Daniels and Jane Fonda on television. Come on. This is going to be terrific.

So... this is listed as drama on IMDB, is that accurate?
Jake M. Johnson, New Girl - Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad - Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Michael Cudlitz, Southland - Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series |

The trailer plays the footage as more of a behind-the-scenes drama than a workplace comedy, so my thought is "yes." Also, as funny as Studio 60 could be, it too was considered a drama with humorous moments, rather than a dark comedy.

All the time. Just not intentionally for the most part. |

I'd think that drama would be the way to go for a show like this. I'd call "Studio 60" a drama too. And Jane Fonda getting to play a female Ted Turner? Love that.

Yes, it seems Jane Fonda plays a female version of her ex-husband. That's interesting. LOL Based on the trailer, this show should be considered a drama series, especially if it airs for 60 minutes per episode. But back when there were news circulating about Sorkin creating a series revolving around behind-the-scenes events of a news program, I read, or probably assumed, that it would be a comedy. |
