^ HA! I love it. Kelly can produce one mega-hit country ballad LAST year, follow it up this year with a moderate hit on country radio ('Mr. Know it All'), put a second country song on her album ('Breaking Your Own Heart'), and that's enough to steal a bunch of (big, blonde) country wigs to get a nomination for Female Vocalist. Effing love it. |

I don't get what beef the CMA's have with Carrie Underwood? I mean, Blown Away was better critically reviewed than Play On, and she's snubbed of Album of the Year..for Lady Antebellum? Dierks Bentley? They obviously have something against her (they've have NEVER nominated her for Entertainer of the Year, even though the ACM's have nominated her twice, and she won both times) Speaking of, what the hell is Taylor Swift doing in Entertainer of the Year? What exactly did she do since she released "Mean" (which I believe they nominated last year?). She just released her new song 2 weeks ago, so it can't be the success from that? Miranda Lambert deserved that spot more than Taylor, and that shows in the nominations (Taylor recieved 3 nominations; Miranda received 4, including the coveted Song and Album of the Year) And how is it that Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney, who weren't considered within the top 5 Male Singers of the year, are somehow within the top 5 overall singers of the year? Brad Paisley didn't even have a top 10 hit this year, and hasn't released a song since "Camoflouge", which peaked at number 12. Some of these nominations are just weird. While some are deserved (Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert), some are not (Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie and Darius Rucker (it should be Lionel Richie and Shania Twain)). |

I wonder if Carrie's endorsement of marriage equality is hurting her standing among the tradional country contingency? I was surprised to see her mostly overlooked here, too. I thought Blown Away would get into Album, and Good Girl into Single. YUCK at Lady Antebellum's AOTY nomination! Congrats to Kelly Clarkson for breaking yet another musical genre boundry! |

If they punish Carrie for being brave enough to speak up in support of CIVIL RIGHTS, then they are a sick group of people. I'm not even a big fan of Carrie's, but I love that she had the nerve to speak her mind on such an important topic. |

what can those nominations tell us if it comes to the Grammy noms in the country field? i'm surprised by few things: 1. Carrie is shut out, and i guess BA must've been eligible. Play On & Carnival Ride WERE NOMINATED here; 2. Dirt Road Anthem was nominated last year for song of the year, and this year is nominated for single of the year; 3. Kelly Clarkson nominated instead of any other country female artist; 4. Over You nominated as a song of the year, and while i love it, i didn't think it had that great lyrics or melody. good that Even If It Breaks Your Heart got in. i love it. |
