ABC SID Confirms: "NATAS is very excited to announce that the 2012 Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on HLN on Saturday, June 23, from the Beverly Hilton Hotel," says NATAS chairman Malachy Wienges in a statement. "Working with the show's producer, Gabriel Gornell of LocoDistro, we are preparing a new, fresh, creative show that will honor all the genres that make daytime television a part of our daily lives." Adds Scot Safron, executive vice president and general manager of HLN, "Every day, we focus on the news and information people talk about, and that has included extensive coverage of the Daytime Emmys in the past. This year, we're very excited to also be carrying the event itself." This year's ceremony will feature celebratory tributes to ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and fan input will be worked into the show with featured segments on the air and on-line at HLNtv.com. The Daytime Emmy Awards will air at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT |

The award for morning program will close out the ceremony. Though it is a twist, I am fine w/it. HLN is starting to grow on me. They do seem like they want a good show, even though it won't be a ratings hit. That intern they have on Twitter has been on it w/placating the various soap fans. Though that was me being cynical, but in truth I do like that there seems to be a concentrated effort to clean up from the "vulgar Vegas nightmare" and return to the basics. As for hosts, I am guessing either Anderson Cooper or Nancy Grace. Anyone else would be a surprise. |

I am glad HLN is airing the show, but this particular detail is kinda lame. |

Agreed! As there are only two nominees for Morning Program, it will literally be the least suspenseful trophy of the night. (Well, maybe second after Lead Actor.) But at least this means whoever wins for Drama Series won't be cut off at the end of the telecast, and I guess the morning shows will have the most people flooding the stage, so practically, I guess I can see that motivation.
