This is my first time watching the live interviews, and I have to say, Tom really asked Denis O'Hare all the right questions. Great stuff.

I can't wait till next monday! Nicole Kidman, Kelsey Grammer, Carson Daly and the women of Downton Abbey? I'm IN. Will it be only one hour as usual or will it be extended to give some time to all these people?
No, non riuscirai mai a capire cosa c'è scritto. Ma non importa.

Here's the recording for you to watch -- it was a GREAT SHOW: http://www.goldderby.com/television/videos/52/374/%27derby-talk%27-nick-offerman-%28%27parks--recreation%27%29-denis-o%27hare-%28%27american-horrror-story%27%29.html Yep, next week Nicole Kidman joins us live for the top of the show, then Kelsey Grammer beams in via Skype, then we'll be joined in studio by Carson Daly and, separately, some of the gals of "Downton Abbey" .... If we get jammed for time, I may ask the Downton gals to stick around and do a separate recorded chat with me. We can air that separately .... The following week John Slattery joins us live in studio plus we have more A List guests too. I'm trying to convince Matt Weiner to join my chat with Slattery by beaming in via Skype or else joining us in person in our studio .... 'DERBY TALK' is becoming a BIG SHOW --- way to go, Team! Our editors are the real stars -- Chris Beachum, Rob Licuria, Matt Noble and Daniel Montgomery. Fantastic! ![]() |

Congrats to everybody at goldderby for making this fantastic show every week with great stars. Looking forward to Nicole and Grammer next week. Just one question: When you talk to these famous people, do you get nervous or does the fact that you're just "skyping" calm you down? |

Not really nervous, no, not after doing thousands of live TV segments over 25 years, I'm comfy with it all. Everything is A-OK after you've done 100 TV segments in primetime with Nancy Grace and Bill O'Rielly coming at you like a freight train at 500 mph, determined to knock you off your rails. Nancy and her team still call every week or two, trying to lure me back on the air, gawd bless 'em, but I keep reminding them that I'm no longer with In Touch Weekly, LA Times, Hearst Magazines, etc -- no longer covering the mainstream celeb gossip beat. Sometimes I'll do celebrity obits -- like I returned to Nancy's show and the CNN/ MSNBC/ ET/ Inside Edition beat when cops reopened the Natalie Wood case and I did a BIT of Whitney Houston commentary. But I'm no longer interested in that whole circuit, at least not now. I just want to concentrate on the awards beat and build up Gold Derby's video offerings to first class league. Tomorrow I'll go into CNN to do some taped spots, but those are the Daytime Emmys, so it's on topic. Someday in the future I'll go back to the TV news rotation beat, when I have the stomach for it again, but I'm enjoying this break from it for now. Hell, I remember the day Michael Jackson died and I was on TV night and day nonstop. Minutes after he died I was on CNN and MSNBC AT THE SAME TIME on a phone connection switching back and forth between Wolf Blitzer and the MSNBC anchor -- it was CRAZY -- but it was quite an honor a few days later when the main Fox network hauled me in to be their chief commentator during Michael's funeral. My dumb mug was on giant screens all over Manhattan -- Times Square, outside the Apollo Theater, etc. -- plus coast to coast and around the world. Get me drunk and someday I'll tell you what it was like doing 12 years of red carpet shows at E! with Joan and Melissa ! -- haaaa -- ![]() |
