Okay, this is just a thought. What if Newsies and Once tied for Best Musical. I know it happens rarely, but way back in 1960, Fiorello and The Sound of Music tied for the same award. I mean, since Once and Newsies are strong competitors, maybe ithey'llboth win. You never know. But like I said,it's just a thought. It may not happen. Personally, I want Newsies to win.Embarassed

Can ties even happen anymore? I thought they changed the voting system.

The revised rules set up an elaborate process to resolve ties on the nominating level, but they don't address ties in the rules about winning the actual award.  From the Rule Book:

(g) Selection of Winners. The Tony Award shall be given to the person, production or element thereof that is voted the best in the current season for each eligible category, and votes are to be cast according to that standard. The winner in each category shall be the nominee in that category receiving the highest number of votes. No tabulation of the numbers of votes for each nominee shall be disclosed to the Tony Awards Administration Committee or Nominating Committee or to any other person or entity, and the names of the
winners shall not be similarly disclosed until the presentation of the Awards.

I would read that as, if there's a tie, each winner gets a Tony.

There was the orchestrations tie in 2009 between Next to Normal and Billy Elliot, which was total bullsh*t since Next to Normal was clearly the winner of that race. But unless they changed the rules since then, it should be possible.

SAG voters get your s**t together!
