SOD is confirming this morning that soap vet and former Emmy nominee Ian Buchanan (Ian) has been written out of the show. He will be exiting in August since DAYS is nearly 3 months ahead in filming. No word on how the character will be exiting. Buchanan is the seventh actor leaving the show since DAYS underwent a regime change back in early April. He joins fellow exiting actors Renee Jones (Lexie), Matthew Ashford (Jack), Sarah Brown (Madison), Christie Clark (Carrie), Patrick Muldoon (Austin) and Molly Burnett (Melanie). Insiders are whispering that there are still more cast departures to come. |

I don't care who leaves as long as Eileen Davidson comes back. |

This was pretty expected, and not much of a loss in terms of what the character was doing. I like Ian Buchanan, but Ian McAllister wasn't doing much for me. The Ian/Madison/Brady storyline is, in my opinion, easily the least compelling on the show. It's not bad, but I often forget that the three of them even exist when they're not around. I wonder what will become of Kate (professionally), though, with Madison and Ian exiting.
RE-HIRE CHRISTIE CLARK! |
