That was fun. January Jones came off really well there. Certainly get the "ice queen" tone that people accuse her of, and she certainly isn't similar to Betty.  And wow, that Mereille Enos sure isn't a talker, lol.

Liked last year's better, but this was fine. And I have to say that Mireille Enos is a very attractive woman.

Anyone else find Margulies a little arrogant - almost a a martyr - in some of her comments?  I love The Good Wife and really love her performance, but her attitude towards her schedule was off-putting for me.  Yes, it must certainly be hard to work 14 hour days and have to go home and learn lines, but these other women on the panel, and many other women in all professions and all walks of life, do the same thing.  To say that she hopes they won't use her as background in court scenes so she has an hour to go to the gym just seems obnoxious to me.  How can Alicia be on a case at work and then not be shown in the court room?  It doesn't really change the way I view her or her performance, but was surprised and disappointed by some of the comments she made.  Some of the other ladies spoke of the challenges of scheduling in a much more graceful and appreciative manner.

Is THR doing an Actor one too? And are they going to do ones for Actor and Actress in a Comedy as well? Just curious if anyone knows if they are and if so when that might be released. Thanks in advance!

I havent' watched the interview. But gotta say, it does bug me when actors take this attitude. Yes, a 14-16 hour day really sucks, especially when you have young kids. But Margulies was already incredibly wealthy after "ER" and a bunch of movies. No one forced her to take the lead role in another network TV show. She knows the ropes. She knew what sacrifices she'd have to make.

Also, LOTS of people work 12, 14, 16-hour days and don't get paid millions of dollars with excellent health care and benefits as compensation. I know what it feels like to be in that bubble when you're in production and sometimes it feels like the world is passing you by; I get it. But keep that attitude to yourself. It's irritating. You're a pampered actor, not working minimum wage.

Okay, had to get that off my chest.

That's truth, she really fucked it all up on that comment. It's like a famous all star football player or something complaining making millions, disgusting.

- I found Margulies to be real and honest. I don't mind her comments. She made them at a table of peers who "get" the career-lifestyle.

- Sedgwick on the other hand came off a bit diva-like on several occasions and at times, hate to say it, borderline convincing.

- Enos is perfect for the role of Sarah on The Killing. She's just as mysterious as the character she has created.

- Danes seemed really down to earth, something I've never said about her. Despite her great talent, she gets into "actor mode" a lot.

- Rossum contributed a lot. Bravo THR for featuring her.

- Jones. Bleh. Not exactly the life of the party (which, Enos isn't either, but Enos isn't like Jones when it comes to that comment).

Overall, there were some problems with this interview. One thing that really irriated me was them not talking about the Emmy process. And there were plenty of directions they could have taken it in:

- Sedgwick. Finally wins on the 5th try then isn't invited to come back and defend the title the following year.

- Rossum. On a show that's not even close to being on Emmy's radar.

- Danes. Talked a lot about always being in film, rather than television or theatre. Was it Temple Grandin that made her want to join the small-screen club?

- Enos. Her series was *this close* to being nominated last year for Best Drama (still can't decide if there had been an additional nominee, if it would have been Friday Night Lights or The Killing) yet her series ended on one of the most frustrating endings ever. Would this affect Emmy voters dropping it with votes for seaosn two the way many fans dropped the series? Also, she had defended the finale at the Globes ("smart storytelling"); did she still stand by it?

- Jones. Like costar Elisabeth Moss, dropped down to Supporting. Which makes me wonder...Why was she even here? From what I've been told, she's barely even in season 5. Furthermore, Moss would have been so much more interesting.

- Margulies. Did she ever think she'd do TV again after ER.

These are the questions I would have asked rather than "Who inspires you" blah blah blah.

That's just how Margulies comes off in these interviews. She was more extreme in last year's panel, going on and on about her "craft" and her expectations for the show and her castmates. I think you either appreciate her level of dedication or take it as a form of complaining. Either way, her work on the show is excellent, and she has her Emmy for her efforts. In her one-on-one interviews, she carries a much more inviting personality.

I don't think anyone would sy away from accusing her of being pretentious but  if they did they would steer more towards ungrateful and it does leave a nasty taste.  I too thought Clare Danes camer off better here than in what her reputation lead me to believe.  Same for January Jones.  For a woman that has a character so despicable and has made some life choices that the public would condemn she seems really down to Earth and gets it.

Those type of questions wouldn't have inspired any kind of discussion/conversation between the ladies.
And most of those questions you are proposing are downright insulting to the ladies. How does Enos know if Emmy voters will be affected by the endinf of season 1? They should question why Jones, Rossum are even on the panel? Margulies did 2 other TV series after ER (plus a stint on The Sopranos) before The Good Wife hit big.
They should ask Sedgwick what it's like not to be nominated after she won? Jeez.

I had no problem with Margulies' comment. Sure, she makes a lot of money but there's no reason that she should be taken advantage of. No one is a machine. She can't work 16 hour days everyday on set, go home and learn all her lines for the next day, and still raise some kids. She simply suggested that scenes that she not have to sit in the background in scenes that she's not directly involved in. That's totally reasonable.
And other than Sedgwick, no one else on the panel "carries" their show the way Margulies does.

I don't want Emmy Rossum nominated. If she wins, there will be tons of headlines saying "Emmy wins an Emmy", and that's just cheesy.

Well that and the fact that her show sucks!!

I don't think that Julianna Margulies is coming off as rather arrogant or something. To me the only person who comes off as a diva is Kyra Sedgwick. Julianna simply looks and acts like somebody who needs some kind of appreciation and validation from the other ladies and I can understand that. I love the look on Claire Danes's face. When she's focused on the conversation, she always has that funny strict eyebrows look. And of course January Jones and Mireille Enos aren't that much in the conversation but hey, they simply aren't used to that -- Margulies was giving interviews and winning Emmys at the time these two were preparing to leave for college. But January made me laugh with the remark about people hating her because of the what a mother her character on the show is.

By the way, a correction - Friday Night Lights was actually a drama series nominee last year. And judging from the outcome in the writing and lead actor categories, I believe it was pretty close to an upset in drama series (but hey, Mad Men had a great season last year, not so much now).
