Let's say Supporting Actress of 2006 was between these two women. Who would you have voted for? |

I think you all know who my vote is for... Also, for those of you thinking of voting for that Babel bitch, think of how Catherine would feel!

| In 2006? Cate Blanchett. From these two? Rinko Kikuchi. | |

You started an entire thread about a race from six years ago asking a hypothetical question about an Oscar nominee and a non-nominee? Completely crazy. |

I have been revisiting a few movies from 2006 and this race always frustrated me. I think it was really the first time a single performance dominated the awards season. Now, it's more common place of course. If I were to nominate 5 ladies from that year, they'd be: Catherine O'Hara Rinko Kikuchi Shareeka Epps Emma Thompson Cate Blanchett with Abigail Breslin as #6 and Jennifer Hudson as #7 Hudson was good...yah...her singing was tremendous, but her non-singing scenes were god awful and truly amateur (not that I expected a non-actor to be all that good in such an important part, but...) If anything, she should have won a Grammy for Best Concert Performance (or whatever that category is...), not an Oscar. I thought that if I were then asked to vote for a winner, it'd be between O'Hara (in a great comedic performance! Melissa McCarthy's part in Bridesmaids didn't have the same depths as O'Hara in this film) and Kikuchi (her mere presence and her very quiet performance is life-shattering). I'd vote for Kikuchi, I think.. |

I'd vote for ANY of the other nominated supporting actresses (Barraza, Blanchett, Breslin, or Kikuchi) over the winner (Hudson). Not sure about O'Hara, but she is a wonderful comedienne (AFTER HOURS; BEETLEJUICE; etc.). Of the nominees, I'd go with Blanchett, just because she is so damn talented and deserves a handful of Oscars. However, Kikuchi was incredible in a difficult role, Barraza was heartbreaking, and Breslin was phenomenal in a wonderfully subversive comedy. Hudson sang one song well. |

Well heck, I dunno. Rinko was unforgettable, and Catherine was fabulous in a difficult role. I'll say Shareeka Epps. The Sunne in Splendour; I prefer my Roses White |

Yes, this is just distracting us from the only real business at hand, which is mandatory nonstop marveling over AVENGERS' obscene grosses. |

I personally think it's good to look back at old races in the off-season...makes you go back and revisit older films you haven't seen in a while... |

I like that this thread is here. It's a little out there, but it's good to mix things up. Plus looking back at old races is indeed fun. Of these two I'd probably vote for Kikuchi. |

Well, there's certain people in the boards that will complain about every little thread. They'll say that there's already an existing thread from 8 or 9 months prior, or they'll just want to rant about some dumb blockbuster... |

Contrary to popular sentiment around here, I thoroughly enjoyed George in Syriana, a many-layered, mind-blowing film that, needs to be viewed more than once. Even then, I'm not entirely sure..... Mickey was on the comeback trail with Sin City and I enjoyed his vocal perf. I'll go with George here, who deserved all the acolades he received for this.
