These awards are lame. I wonder how they missed Peter Dinklage last year. |

They also missed Melissa McCarthy. Interestingly, both were the only Emmy winners coming from freshman shows. Perhaps their snubs were a case of delayed reaction from the CCTA, although the former's show got nominated in series. Who knows?

They missed Dinklage, but they gave the award to John Noble, who gives a stronger performance in a much more underrated show, nothing wrong with that. |

John Noble winning last year gives enough credibility for this award, even if they left Dinklage out.

| Yeah, but they nominated Chelsea lately and not The Colbert Report which is a crime on par with human trafficking. | |

They missed McCarthy because she deserves absolutely no form of recognition for Mike and Molly whatsoever. They also didn't nominate Jeff Probst.

Reactions. - It's really interesting that three out of four of last year's comedy-acting winners aren't even nominated this year: Tina Fey, Neil Patrick Harris, and Busy Phillips. - It's always nice to see Sons of Anarchy recognized, especially for Lead Actress Katey Sagal. As happy as I am for Maggie Siff in Supporting Actress, I wonder if people misread her name as "Maggie Smith" because that is a glaring omission while Siff is an out-of-nowhere nom. And way to go Charlie Hunnam. - I wonder if Community and Girls will make this kind of dent at the Emmys. Ironically, the only major category I have either in is Writing {"Remedial Chaos Theory" for Community, "Pilot" for Girls}. - Complete shutout for Hemingway & Gellhorn. Interesting. - I have to remind myself to be careful altering my Emmy predictions based on these noms. When both John Noble and Busy Phillips rightfully won last year, I placed them both in my predictions for an Emmy nom. Big mistake. |

Wow, excellent lineup once again! On the comedy side, Girls is probably the biggest surprise, especially for Becky Ann Baker, as well as the nod for Ashley Rickards, but the nods for Community, Happy Endings, and New Girl show that the CCTA are trying to be edgier with their choices, going as far as to dropping 30 Rock altogether, even after Tina Fey won last year. Last year's supporting champs Harris and Phillips are also gone, so they really want to keep things fresh. On the drama side, things are a little more stable, with more love for Justified (even as far as Jere Burns!), Shameless, Sons of Anarchy, and Southland than I expect at the Emmys, but all fairly plausible contenders. The biggest surprise for me is only Dylan Baker in for Damages (not even Glenn Close?), but all of last year's Emmy winners could sweep through their respective categories. In the Movie/Miniseries categories, I am really surprised at no Hemingway & Gellhorn, although maybe it premiered too late for these critics (that, or they just didn't like it like many critics appeared to), but I don't expect the same at the Emmys. This also gives us an idea of how the merged lead/supporting categories may have looked if next year's rule was implemented this year (no male supporting performers), but also a plausible list of Emmy contenders. In reality, no Real Housewives or American Idol to defend their titles (or Dancing with the Stars to compete), or Mike Rowe to defend his crown either, but the Daily Show contends again in the talk show category (with no Colbert as competition again!). |

Glad to see love for Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Justified, Sons of Anarchy, and Modern Family. Sons had a strong showing, with Hunnam and Siff surprisingly nominated and deservingly so. I'm surprised only Burrell and Bowen made it from MF, but aside from Gould and Vergara, they were the most deserving. Glad to see 5 noms for BB, which will probably repeat at the Emmys. And it nice to see Dinklage's omission from last year recitifed. As for Jusitifed, I'm surprised Burns was singled out among all the guest stars, but he was great. Good set of noms overall.
