I've been gorging on this classic show since buying the complete series last month. What are your favorite episodes? Why? My favorites change depending on my mood/head-space. There are probably only a handful of TZ episodes I've found average or "bad". Overall, this is one of the most consistently brilliant shows ever. Here are some of mine (click on the episode title to be directed to its official wiki page for a plot synopsis and more in-depth info on said episode): 1. "The Eye of the Beholder" (Perhaps the best episode of the series) 2. "The Night of the Meek" (Art Carney is heartbreaking; perfect Christmas episode) 3. "Mute" (I cried my ass off) 4. "The After Hours" (Chilling and sad, all at once) 5. "The Big Tall Wish" (The only episode to have a predominantly African American cast; a wonderful piece on the power of faith) 6. "The Howling Man" (Creepy!) 7. "The Invaders" 8. "The Obsolete Man" (Brilliant!) 9. "To Serve Man" 10. "The Gift" (Compelling with its Christian motifs) 11. "A Passage for Trumpet" 12. "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" 13. "Nightmare as a Child" 14. "A Stop at Willoughby" 15. "Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room" 16. "Death Ship" 17. "The Dummy" 18. "The Little People" 19. "The Hitch-Hiker" 20. "One for the Angels" ![]() |

Great list! Many classics, there. Of course, there is always the perennial favorite, Time Enough At Last. I also love Little Girl Lost, The Midnight Sun and The Masks. For a lighter story, I love The Last Rights of Jeff Myrtlebank. Oh heck, there are so many! Among weak episodes, the only one I can think of that was pretty embarrassing was the one with Carol Burnett, with a very similar guardian angel story to that starring Orson Bean, but just not done as well. And if I recall correctly, it had a laugh track! I love Ms. Burnett, but that episode was a bit painful. But that's one of the rare misses. Even most of the ones that aren't great are still decent. Truly one of the best TV series ever! |

Totally forgot about "Time Enough At Last". Definitely a classic. I'm actually just about to finish up Season 4 and will be moving on to Season 5. I just saw the Carol Burnett episode you mentioned not too long ago. I didn't think it was too bad, lol. It was definitely sitcom-ish, though. ![]() |
