I know this is tacky as all hell, but talk about kicking things off w/a bang (and now I am going to feel silly for the rest of the day)

A man and a woman have been found dead at the Beverly Hilton hotel in an apparent murder-suicide, the Associated Press reports.


No further details were provided. The bodies were taken to the LA Coroner's office on Saturday morning.Police responded to reports of a shooting late Friday night, and discovered the two victims -- described as "elderly" -- dead from gunshot wounds in their hotel room, said the AP, citing Beverly Hills police Lt.Mark Rosen.

Later in the day, the Beverly Hilton is hosting the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, slated to air at 8 p.m. on HLN.

Police did not comment on whether there was a connection between the deaths and the awards ceremony.

In February, the Beverly Hilton made headlines when Whitney Houston was found drowned in the bathtub of her hotel room, hours before she was to make an appearance at music mogul Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party at the venue.

Grahn made a prior commitment for charity.  I do believe the Emmy date was never set until around the time the nominations were announced. It would of been in poor taste to cancel a charity appearance for an award show to be honest.

And speaking of no shows, Susan Flannery (slated to present), and nominees Genie Francis and Debbi Morgan won't be attending. Flannery broke her foot on set, Francis is on vacation, and Morgan will be seeing Blair Underwood on Broadway. Freak accidents and prior commitments due to the fact of uncertainty, is the name of the game I guess. Oh well.

Showbiz tonight is doing a red carpet show.  HLN looks to be doing a decent job especially promotion wise.  They will also be repeating the show a few times over the weekend.

I haven't been this excited for the Daytime Emmys in years. I'm glad they're finally on a network that actually seems to want them. And I'm excited to see the winners; It could be really emotional if AMC, Regis Philbin and Erika Slezak get farewell Emmys. I guess we'll see if the voters are really that sentimental.

I must also add that I am VERY impressed with Headline News and their handling of the Daytime Emmys.  They have had Showbiz Tonight doing an Emmy preview earlier today with interviews with a lot of the nominees.  Plus a red carpet show.

I am so thankful the Las Vegas nightmare is behind us.

HA!  That is just to funny.  If GH wins than Phelps should accept since she was the exec producer during the eligiblity period, Valentini didn't take over until earlier this year.
