According to Nelson Branco, Eileen Davidson (ex-Ashley, Y&R) is indeed returning to DAYS OF OUR LIVES in the roles she so famously played, Kristen Blake DiMera & Susan Banks. Davidson was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1998 for her dual role on DAYS. Here is his article: Eileen Davidson is indeed joining DAYS as Kristen and Susan, report my moles. But the story behind the worst-kept secret in daytime is more fascinating. Apparently, Sony’s Steve Kent brought Davidson into his office and said, “I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news is that you’re leaving Y&R because DAYS really wants and needs you.” At first, Sony wanted Davidson on both DAYS and Y&R. However, sources say that the Y&R writing team refused to share Davidson with DAYS and forced Sony to make a decision ultimately leading to her Y&R firing. But those sneaky Y&R writers lied to Davidson’s face when she asked why she couldn’t pull double duty on both Sony serials. The scribes insisted it was Sony’s decision, which led to the actress’s infamous tweet about learning she was fired (which now makes sense since we all knew she was merely being transplanted to DAYS). Needless to say Davidson is not a happy camper with the Y&R brass. Get in line, sweetie! ---- UPDATE #1 In an interview with popular soap opera site Daytime Royalty, Matthew Ashford (soon-to-be-ex Jack) also confirmed that Eileen Davidson is returning to the show. http://daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8704097/6/#new UPDATED #2 Her return is now also being confirmed by Michael Fairman. -- The rumors were swirling and reports have been leaking, but as it turns out, Eileen Davidson is rejoining the cast of Days of our Lives from all reports as Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks. This comes hot on the heels of the ever-popular, beautiful and talented, Davidson being let-go again from The Young and the Restless as Ashley Abbott. http://michaelfairmansoaps.com/news/eileen-davidson-rejoins-days-of-our-lives-as-kristen-dimera-and-susan-banks/2012/06/27/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter --- UPDATE #3 Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R) has also just confirmed through her twitter account that Davidson is back at DAYS. |

This is a HUGE coup! Go DOOL! If this is why all those people got fired I'm okay with that. Sorry Sarah Brown, I'll take a return of Kristen, Susan, etc over your limp character anyday.

What I find baffling is that Y&R was not willing to share her with DAYS, but DAYS was willing to share her with Y&R. SONY made the right call...Davidson is much more valuable for DAYS than to Y&R. |

Y&R is simply run by a bunch of morons. While I understand the hesitation on their part to share her with the competition I don't get how they handled the situation.

Well... most certainly the most important casting news of the year and maybe the last few years. I cannot think of one return with more potential to turn a soap around. I hope they do it right! Wow, I can't wait to see Eileen Davidson and James Scott as mother and son! |

Now that OLTL and Erika Slezak are out of the soaps game, I think this will become the future of DID stories on soaps and will likely become the next Emmy frontrunner for Lead Actress. She's going to win Emmy after Emmy. "Hearts are often broken When there are words unspoken In your soul there's answers to your prayers"- Whtiney Houston, Exhale |

^^ Wow I hope you are right. Her two Emmy nominations came after big years for her on Days and Y&R, and it would be awesome for her to be recognized considering she is the most versatile actress to ever hit daytime and one of the (if not the) best overall. I am curious to see what happens to the ratings. Vanessa Marcil earned GH a ratings boost during her last return, and no one else has that kind of star power and fan support besides Eileen Davidson and maybe Victoria Rowell. |

YES! I tried to most a comment earlier, but the site ate it. TWICE. (Why does that keep happening?!?!?) Beyond the obvious, which is that I am SO FAR BEYOND THRILLED to be getting this woman back on DAYS with all she brings. This whole thing is really interesting, though, but it actually makes a ton of sense to me. I remember Eileen Davidson commenting that she would have loved to do both DAYS and Y&R, which would be a really out-of-left-field comment if the idea hadn't already been on the table somewhere. I wonder if playing Kristen, Susan, and Ashley would have been tougher than playing Kristen, Susan, and Mary Moira. My thought is yes, but that doesn't matter now anyway. Y&R really was not doing Davidson and Ashley justice, but it's still a shame for them and fans of that show to lose her altogether. In addition to being over the moon about this, I'm cautiously excited to see what DAYS looks like in four-to-six months. The canvas will be changed drastically (losing Carrie, Lexie, Austin, Jack, Madison, Ian, Melanie, and Bo; gaining Kristen/Susan, Nick, and Eric; and with so many people who've been around for less than a year in their current runs, like Marlena, John, Billie, Lucas, and Cameron), and who knows what direction stories and pairings will take. Unfortunately, I don't think there's much to be gained in terms of a traditional ratings boost. I don't hold out much hope for that at this point, but I guess we'll see. RE-HIRE CHRISTIE CLARK! |

I would expect a few more exits...I have a feeling Lisa Rinna will not be around much longer...and sooner or later Shawn Christian will be out the door, his character is wildly unpopular and has been since he has started on this show. Eileen Davidson returning is good news for Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn, as they most likely will be sticking around as a result. |

Damn, I thought Shawn Christian already left the show.... I really don't watch.

Someone mentioned on another board that DAYS contracts are not through Sony but through Corday Productions. As for Shawn Christian, I don't think he is universally hated like some think. There are a group that do not like him and a group that love him. I am in the I don't care group. |

^ Thats not true...at least not wholly...their contracts are with both Corday and Sony. |

Scoopster, thanks for posting that Matthew Ashford interview. As far as Jack goes, I'd say the character is in the lower half of characters I care about having on the show (certainly less than a Carrie or a Kristen, but easily more than newbies like Madison and Ian and people who, despite being lovely, serve little purpose, like Kayla). But the interview really stirred me, just to read such sincere-sounding and seeminly genuine comments and kind things about the show and the people there after the experience he's had with the show. I'm impressed by his perspective. The change in energy he talked about with stories shifting was really interesting, too. I know we all know that you can often just see the storylines changing direction, almost like the ground moving underneath your feet, and I guess they just didn't know what to do with that Jennifer/Daniel thing. Regarding Daniel, I know he gets a lot of negative comments from a lot of people online, but I bet that focus groups and polls and all that of the target demo are much more favorable to him. My mom LOVES him, and throws a mini-tantrum any time she thinks the show is going to get rid of him. I think in this industry, having a really good looking man in a prominent, important and totally legal field who is basically always nice to women and not a cheater goes a long way. I was also surprised to see Ashford say that had a table read. That was the most surprising thing he said, actually. I guess this exit, whatever it is, is going to be quite something. Actually, every single poll I have ever seen in regard to Daniel has been INSANELY negative, I don't think he is popular in the least or among focus groups (which DAYS no longer does, as per confirmation from them). |
