Perhaps I need to rewatch the ER pilot but despite the length I don't remember it being anything special. The episode "Love's Labor Lost" was the big Emmy winner from its first season. In my mind, the Alias pilot ("Truth Be Told") is every bit the equal of the Lost pilot. |

The pilot isn't even the best episode of Lost, that would be " The Constant." |

IMO, none of these episodes would qualify for the best drama episode of all time. "Two Cathedrals" would be my choice, if I had to choose. "Hearts and Souls," "Long Term Parking" or "Subway" would be my personal choices.
The best album of the year so far. "Past Gone" is the best song of the year as well. Check out Mike Stud's debut album on iTunes. |

"Two Cathedrals" is my go-to answer to that question, so good that it was an option. Other considerations for me include : - "The Constant", Lost - "Midnight", Doctor Who - "Pine Barrens", The Sopranos - One of the many great episodes of season 5 of The Sopranos, probably "Irregular Around the Margins" - "Fly", Breaking Bad |

Quite frankly, and I mean no offense, this list is absolutely awful. Not a single episode of The Sopranos, Mad Men, NYPD Blue??? Instead we get Star Trek and Dallas? Are you kidding me? |

"Long Term Parking" should really be in there. Anyway, I disagree that the "Lost" pilot is not the show's best episode. While I love "The Constant" just as much, they are pretty much on the same level. And yes, the pilot for "Alias" is awesome and should be there too. BUT, from this list, I have to go with "Twin Peaks". That's a classic episode, perfectly shot, perfectly scored, with such richness in tone and atmosphere already on the first epsiode. David Lynch really is a genius, and thks episode is an exercise in mood that really proves that. |

A few episodes from The Sopranos and Buffy the Vampire Slayer should be there, since I think those were the two best dramas at crafting stand-alone, masterful episodes of televison. "The Son" from FNL, "Nixon Vs Kennedy" of Mad Men, a couple episodes from The X-Files and NYPD Blue should be there as well. |

I agree. I actually like the inclusion of episodes from older series but then how many of us have seen those older shows? I've only seen a few episodes of NYPD Blue and didn't care all that much for it. "Hearts and Souls" did nothing for me, though it probably would have had a greater impact if I had been watching the show sequentially from the beginning. And I only got to see the one-hour version as that's the only one Amazon Prime has available for viewing–it was supposedly a special 90-minute episode when it aired on ABC. But this edited version that I did manage to see just made me wonder how it beat out The Sopranos for directing. |

These are some poor choices to choose from. If you had to do yet another one of these polls, at least pick better.

"Walkabout" is clearly the best episode of Lost. |

IMDB users choose Aftershock as the best episode of Law and Order. I think the best episode was Pro Se or maybe Born Bad. NYPD Blue has its pilot which I think is superior to the pilots and episodes listed except Twin Peaks. |

We have way too many posts here that are poll-driven. I'm shutting down these threads. Let's pick up the conversation over in the new forum section devoted just to polls.
