Are you going out on a limb this year with any of the major Emmy categories? Who or what are your longshot predictions to receive a nomination? In other words, does a perennially snubbed actor finally have your vote this year? Or is there a series that's always been overlooked, until possibly this season? Tell us your picks!

Note: this isn't for out-of-the-box contenders who you WANT to be nominated, this is for who you think CAN or WILL be nominated.

I really feel that the Comedy Supporting Actress category won't be as "predictable" as it looks like. Everybody is sure about the Bowen-Vergara-Wiig-Leachman-White-Krakowski (and maybe Lynch) toplist. I think it's not that easy. Of course the Modern Family girls are in (for the love of God I hate Modern Family, but Bowen deserves it) and White is a sure bet too. But the others can be easily snubbed.

I'm predicting Kathryn Joosten to make it instead of Krakowski. Joosten deserves a nomination and her death is just helping (very ugly to say that, but it's true). She will have performance-votes (which was strong this season) and sympathy-votes (mainly for her death). But if we are thinking racionally she won twice (and nominated once) for her role in guest and was in the Top 10 list as supporting for season 2 or 3 (I don't remember) so...we can't count her out of our prediction. Ever. She's a big player every year.

I also predicting Naya Rivera. I know Glee didn't have a great season, but Rivera was good. Better than Lynch and has a normal tape which can make her an Emmy-winner. In "Mash Off" she showed her soul, feelings and emotions, she was just perfect. People are talking about her Emmy chances around the Emmy forums, she's on the wish-lists, she's popular among kids, has a "lesbian role model" type of charisma and asked by the Academy to host a little Emmy video this year which is a big deal. She clearly have the buzz. And this interview with the Hollywood Riporter which is all about her Emmy buzz. The article's title is the following "Emmy 2012: 'Glee's' Naya Rivera on Playing a Lesbian Role Model" . Search for it!

So Joosten and Rivera can make it, don't count them out. Not yet.

Joosten does have a good chance of getting in, but i just don't have a feeling that it will happen. If she would have submitted for Guest then she would have been nominated and probably would have won, but i just don't think the Emmy's are that centimental that they would give her a spot in supporting actress. This category is already VERY crowded

1.Betty White
2.Julie Bowen
3.Jane Krakowski
4.Sofia Vergara
5.Kristin Wiig
6.Cloris Leachman.

And of course if the academy still gives love to glee then Jane Lynch could get nominated. And some favorites could possibly get in (Mayim Bialik,Wendie Malick,Maya Rudolph). This category is just way too crowded. I feel bad for Joosten but she should have stuck with guest.

Personally i see this category coming down to Betty White and Julie Bowen. And if Betty White submits "Bridezelka" Then i personally think that she will win. Sofia won't win.........i'm just shocked that she got nominated for 2 years...... I think people might see her more as a "Sex" Symbol than an anctress. And i don't wanna acuse anyone but maybe she does get some votes here and there, because people do see her as "Hot". And Cloris Leachman isn't guaranteed that spot...... it all depends on if the academy goes for Lynch again.

I think that if Leachman manages to get nominated and submits her best episode, she wins... that easy.

Betty has absolutely no shot at the win. Any episode that she submits, regardless of her screentime, will feature her unnecessary and unfunny character, and actors will pick up on this quickly. If you look back at the episodes that win people Emmys, they are all episodes with impact and Betty simply does not get the storylines that have this kind of impact to the show. I agree with you about Vergara. Her character is indeed a sex symbol and, like Betty, has no impact on the show (though the pregnancy storyline could give her good material to work with).

And not predicting Leachman is simply stupid. She's been nominated for this role already, she's the record holder for most Emmy wins and is even more of an Emmy fave than Betty. Like Denis said, if she submits her best (which she always does -- and Raising Hope gave her a good episode this year, I just can't remember the name), she can win it easily.

As for the longshots I am predicting, I see Adam Scott getting nominated for Parks and Rec. I think that everything is working in Parks' favor this year. Poehler is waaaay overdue, Offerman is announcing the nods, they finally broke into comedy series and they have Rich Licata campaigning. Scott also has the "impact" episodes that could win the race.

I am also predicting Martha Plimpton who is for some reason a longshot, even though she should be a lock. She was the rightful winner of the category last year and honestly this season of Raising Hope was simply incredible, mostly due to her. Plimpton is lower than Lea Michele, Felicity Huffman AND Laura Linney in the GoldDerby prediction center and honestly that's just embarrasing and really demonstrates the flaws with this system.

Katey Sagal in Lead, Anna Gunn in Supporting. I've said it before...If perennially snubbed, you have four seasons to get in. Once snubbed for a fourth time, you're out. Always a rare exception, i.e. Matthew Fox. These ladies have the tapes and the due factor. I wish I could say Regina King but even I know that's too good to be true.

Ok i didn't say that Leachman won't get nominated, i said that she could possibly get bumped out because who knows....maybe Jane Krakowski will stay, maybe Jane Lynch will stay, Maybe even Joosten could get in. And i know that you don't really like Betty, but saying that she has no shot is just ignorant. I do agree that Betty in the 3rd season wasn't given too much good material from the writers. If the writers give her good material ( hopefully this will happen in the 4rd season that will air in the fall ) then she can give great episodes. Luckily she has the benefit of picking from the 3rd season and half od the 2nd. So i would argue that she does have some good episodes. In my opninion and i am sure others will agree that "Bridezelka" could get her the Emmy. And all because Leachman has the record for the most wins doesn't mean that she will win the emmt and it certainly doesn't mean that she has a better shot than betty just because of that. Your making it sound like betty has 1 emmy and Cloris has 10. If i'm correct Cloris has 8 primetime emmy's and 1 daytime emmy, Betty has 6 primetime Emmy's and 1 daytime Emmy, there really isn't a big difference between 9 and 7.......... They are both Emmy favorites. Yes Cloris has the record of the most emmy's but betty does have some recors too, for example she is the only female actor to win in all female comedy categories (lead actress 1952,1986) (Supporting Actress 1975,1976) (Guest Actress 1996,2010). I am not saying that Cloris doesn't have a chance in fact if she does get nominated she of course could win! But since she has never been in the supporting comedy category for Raising Hope it is difficult to determine if she will get in. Like i said before it all depends if Krakowski stays, if Lynch will be back, or if Joosten will get in. Sorry for writing alot........lol i go on lots of rants. :)

The reason of why plimpton probably won't get in is because there are newcomers coming. Julia louis dreyfus of course has a spot reserved for her as does Laura dern ( in my opninion ). And since McCarthy won last year i think that she will be back (probably for a final nomination). And tina fey is staying.......... i don't think she will ever be snubbed for a nomination in this category. And deschannel will probably get in. And Laura Linney could be back and lets face it Edie Falco could also be back (she is after all EDIE FALCO). And of course there is that whole argument about Lena Dunham but i don't think that she will get in. Even though Plimpton probably does deserve to have a spot, sometimes the Emmy's don't reward nominations based on talent ( we all know that ). Oh Shit! and i forgot Amy Poehler!!! of course she will  have a nomination

My predictions are

1. Julia Louis Dreyfus - She will get in because of her name and talent.
2. Amy Poehler - she will get in because she is one of the funniest women on tv right now
3. Laura Dern - she will get in because of her golden globe win ( Beating Deschannel!!! )
4. Tina Fey  - I know some people are speculating that she will get snubbed but i'm not falling for it
5. zoey Deschannel - even thought i don't like her and her show she will probably get in, but she might not.
6. Melissa McCarthy - Because she won last year i will give her a spot.

I mean i just don't see Plimpton getting in.........But she could who knows?.?

I'm predicting Damon Wayans Jr. Yeah, sue me.

I just think that Best Supporting Actor Comedy is like this now: 4 "Modern Family" guys and Nick Offerman. That last spot is very unpredictable now that Jon Cryer moved to Lead and "Glee" seems likely to get snubbed in most categories severely hurting Colfer's chances. So, I think Colfer will be snubbed, and one of the standout supporting actors from a new comedy will get in. Most think it will be Greenfield, but I'm not sure about that, as all the talk surronding Schmidt seems to have lost a bit of momentum, and he hasn't been quite the breakout character some fans make him out to be. So I'm going for a no guts no glory prediction of Damon wayans Jr. He seems to be the male breakout character of the show, is the son of a popular veteran comedian, and his show was airing paired with "Modern family", which might just help him a little bit. Maybe this all means nothing, but I really feel that last spot is up for grabs, and Wayans might have more of a shot than we think.

The Emmys play it safe and tend to branch out when a reboot is needed. For example, when a given season came to pass where a lot of the new contenders warrant the recognition while established series have had a conspicuous decline. This happened with the 2009-10 season as not one or two but three freshmen were nominated for best comedy: ABC's Modern Family, which won, Fox's Glee, and Showtime's Nurse Jackie. On the drama side, the breakout was CBS' The Good Wife.
