^^^That albums list is sad. If an artist could win AOTY twice for the same album, Adele would probably accomplish that this year.

The best album of the year so far. "Past Gone" is the best song of the year as well. Check out Mike Stud's debut album on iTunes.

Those top selling singles and albums are really crappy.  This year is even worse than last year.  :(

I just realized that "We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae might not be eligible for Record of the Year, as it was released as a single on September 20, 2011, which was during last year's eligibility period. I don't think the ROTY category is as lenient as the Best New Artist category.

In recent years, some songs that were inelgible for Record of the Year after they became hits, simply because they were released as singles in September, and didn't really take off and become hits until the following year: Maroon 5's "This Love" and Train's "Hey Soul Sister."

So, don't be surprised if "We Are Young" is snubbed from Record of the Year, or surprisingly doesn't show up on submission forms.
A pity, since I think this is one of the best songs of the year.

Daniel, you're absolutely right, but I don't know if the song was in fact submitted for last year's Grammys, don't remember the list. Does anyone know? Could this cancel their chances at nominations? In any case, does the rule allow this song to be submitted again?

i checked the entry lists, and fun. submitted absolutely notihing for last Grammy awards :)

also, i remember many instances were 'some record' were released during previous eligibility period, but it was the impact those records had in the actual eligibility period that mattered.

I think it depends on which release date it was. Most songs are released on iTunes and then released to radio so their radio release date may be in this year's eligibility period.

The best album of the year so far. "Past Gone" is the best song of the year as well. Check out Mike Stud's debut album on iTunes.
