I don't watch GH, but i've seen Promos of John kissing some other chick..so how did he break up with Natalie..DID he break up with her? lol |

Nope, they did not break up. They have hinted through one-sided phone conversations that she does not approve of his stay in Port Charles (understandably, IMO), but I do not think they broke up. |

Natalie is the ONLY other OLTL character that would make sense on GH at this point. Any others would be excessive and unnescessary. |

Right, seeing as how he's making out with Sam, I'd say her disapproval is totally justified. If they insist on playing John with Sam, they should bring Natalie over (at least for a while) and write a proper triangle or a breakup. Having a son seemed to mean so much to John, so his spending so much time away from Liam in Port Charles doesn't really sit right to me.

^^ That is just one of the reasons why this crossover is not working for me. First, they tried to justify John's presence by making up that backstory about his sister, but that did not work since it came completely out of nowhere. Then they tried to keep him around with Sam as his latest damsel in distress (which ironically abbreviates to DID, but maybe that's not accurate anyway since Sam is married and thus not a damsel by definition), but he had no reason to cheat on Natalie. And then we have to endure Sam encouraging him to lie to Natalie about it. As far as Sam goes, there was no reason for her not to turn to her mother and sisters in her time of need, yet she instead turns to John to facilitate the blaming of Jason for the baby's death. Now Jason as a character can be an idiot, but Sam would have known that turning to John would provoke Jason. The actual plot points could have worked if it played out this way: Sam turns to John, but it is explictly shown that she does it partly to provoke Jason, and then both she and Jason felt guilty about their actions resulting in the baby's death. She then shares the kiss with John and encourages him to lie about it in an attempt to mitigate any further damage to the situation. Carly comes in and yells at all involved, and flirts with Ewan (who has been sent to Port Charles by Jax to spy on Carly and help Kate/Connie, and leaving Johnny/Sean/Todd to their own other story lines) and launches a Jason/Elizabeth/Ewan/Carly love quad. But that kind of complexity seems to be out of the skill set of this writing team. Instead, they are trying to pass Sam off as this one-dimensional heroine who is a victim of big bad Jason and psycho Heather. |

Yeah it seems that Carvalti and his team aren't working their magic on GH. It's sad there is so much they could do to fix GH but it isn't going to happen. I think that it is going to get canceled at it's next contract expiration.

Carlivati, Passanante, and etc's work is entertaning but not interesting. Guza had the opposite problem. But neither of them have a mind or heart, which is what this show so desperately needs. I feel like TPTB at ABC should have left OLTL in peace and put Lorraine Broderick at the helm of GH before Days got to her. |

Even though Carlitini aren't really hitting as much as we'd like, I think a lot of fan reaction the changes has been positive. Although, I did spend, like, an hour at a Fourth of July party last week listening to complaints about the show from a longtime fan, but she was also talking about it much more than she had been and she does like a lot of the OLTL crossover. I'm usually hesitant to defend Carlivati's work especially, because I think he's kind of overrated, but I'm inclined to give him more time on this one. I think he's going to eventually change the GH canvas enough that it's a place that's more in his lane. It won't be the same show, but I think it could be a good show. I'm also less and less concerned about GH getting cancelled in the immediate future. The cancellation of both AMC and OLTL seems like a mistake more and more every week. ABC can't find things to plug into that extra hour where OLTL used to live that people will actually watch. Then there was that report from the Page Six woman that Katie Couric would only get three days to prove itself as a ratings hit. If they feel that uncertain about Katie Couric's show, and The Revolution tanked, and Good Afternoon America is looking to be as dumb an idea as you'd think, it seems unlikely they'll axe something they know is working to some degree at least. Yeah, it has its good days right now, and more consistency will certainly help. His style does not fit this show and IMO that factor will prevent it from ever being great again, but I am willing to accept it if it is good on a regular basis. |

I really wish that they could restore some of the heart, soul and compassion that GH once had. For me it's so sad because I started watching GH at the very start of the Wendy Riche/Claire Labaine era and to see how far it's fallen has been very difficult for me to watch. I also wish he'd find some way to reignite the Quatermaine Family; give Monica a story and do something (anything) with Edward. I mean he should be to GH what Victor Newman is to Y&R or what Stefano is to DOOL. He should be driving story and the center of numerous feuds, flings and affairs. After Lila died they should have used him as a casanova and allowed him to romance, betray and wreck havoc all over the canvas. I mean really what would be more terrifying than Edward and Helena hooking up, teaming up and turning their backs on each other? Over the weekend I was watching one of the classic episodes of One Life to Live from SoapNet's New Year's marathon, the episode from a few years ago when Bess switches Jess's dead baby for Hope, John shows up to rescue Marty from Todd's house, and Natalie and Jared are trapped in the secret room. It's funny how John and Natalie had really no involvement at that time, when shortly after that they became such a focal point of the show. I also have to say, watching that episode, Melissa Archer grew leaps and bounds as an actress during OLTL's last couple of years. She had some "crying" scenes in the secret room, and it was pretty pathetic.
