I don't know if there's already a topic like this one, but I thought I'd create a new one: Which possible contenders do you NOT want to see  succeeding at the Emmys? Are there people or shows who might get nominated you don't think would deserve it?

(When I was writingI realised the topic has kind of a negative and harsh tone. I don't mean to harm or offend the feelings of anyone, after all they do a good job in the business otherwise they wouldn't be contenders for the Emmys.)

Here's my list:

Drama Series: I love The Good Wife and I think the only chance it gets nominated is when Boardwalk Empire fails to get a nomination. Therefore I hope Boardwalk Empire doesn't get nominated in this category.

Comedy Series: I can't stand The Big Bang Theory. It's a show I tried to watch several times but just couldn't get through more than a few minutes. I don't understand the buzz around this show. Although I saw the first season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, the wit was just too dry for me, and that says something because otherwise I like dry sense of humor. Although I really love Glee I think the third season just wasn't as good as the first two seasons and for me it reached the point where it doesn't deserve to be nominated again.

Comedy Actor: I already mentioned that I don't really like The Big Bang Theory and therefore don't think Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki should be nominated again. Especially since Parsons stole the Emmy from Steve Carell last year. And please just stop it with Two And A Half Men! This is seriously the most boring and shallow show that's ever been on television! Jon Cryer shouldn't be nominated. The show has had its heyday.

Comedy Actress: I love this category so much and I think there are so so many deserving actresses who won't get nominated, like Martha Plimpton, Eva Longoria, Lea Michele, Jane Levy, Christina Applegeate, Felicity Huffman or Mary-Louise Parker to name just a few. To leave some space open for them I'd like to not getting nominated Melissa McCarthy and Lena Dunham. McCarthy has had her success last year for Mike & Molly and although Dunham's performance is solid on Girls, I simply don't like the show.

Comedy Supporting Actress: Please why do people keep nominate veteran actresses who don't deserve it? Betty White? Seriously? How could anyone nominate her over Wendie Malick on Hot In Cleveland? Even Jane Leeves and Valerie Bertinelli are better! I have to say I love everything about Raising Hope. But Cloris Leachman should have stayed in the Guest Actress category and should have probably won there. But not in the Supporting Actress category. She simply didn't have enough screentime and her character is totally onesided.

Comedy Guest Actress: I saw the episode of Modern Family and I don't think Ellen Barkin did such a good job. I think in the Guest categories veteran actors and actresses get chosen over fresh and probably more deserving performances by unfamiliar faces. The same applies for Blythe Danner on Up All Night in this category.

It think this is an actual problem especially in the guest actors/actresses categories. If an unknown actor/actress would play the exact same role he/she would be far from getting nominated.

(I beg your pardon if my English
isn't perfect, it's not my first language.)

Mariska Hargitay - PLEASE, GOD PLEASE!

The Big Bang Theory, Jon Cryer, Laura Dern, Ed O'Neill, Eric Stonestreet AND Betty White are the others that don't deserved nominations in the comedy side.

I think the OP pretty much covered everything that I'm dreading (also, if Mariska makes it in again, I'll just break down laughing atvthe Ennui's for their obsession). If I were to add anyone, they'd probably be a majority of the cast. While I love Alan Cumming, Christine Baranski, and Archie Panjabi, I couldn't't help but feel I'd love it more if contenders like Josh Charles, Walton Goggins, John Goodman, Joel Kinnaman, Neal McDonough, Lena Headey, or Anna Gunn made it in their places.

Comedy Series: Glee and The Big Bang Theory. I love Big Bang, but this wasn't their best season and shows like Veep, Girls and specially the insanely deserving Happy Endings will be left out in favor of them.

Actor: Jon Cryer. I think this will be an easy nomination for him, much easier than last year's nod in supporting. I was watching episode 7 of this season of Episodes (BBC is almost done airing the second season) and I thought about how easy it would've been for LeBlanc to come back and how hard it'll be for him next year. Not that he would've won because the season has been very disappointing, but just a thought I had.

Actress: this category will be a disaster or a great one. There's way too much competition and you really don't know what to make of it. I think Tina Fey is amazing and still awesome but after plenty of wins for this show, her spot should go to the sure to be snubbed Martha Plimpton, for example. I don't want to see Melissa McCarthy back here for that awful show.

Sup Actor: Ed ONeil. I'll never believe he's deserving for this show. I would much rather see him nominated a bunch of times for Married With Children than for this role. He's great in it, just not that funny and Modern Family pretty much sucks now. Chris Colfer also makes me nervous about the chances of the most deserving contender in the bunch: Max Greenfield. And the list of other contenders bound to be left out because of the MF men and possibly Colfer is a loooong one.

Sup Actress: Betty White and Sofia Vergara. Even Jane Lynch deserves this nod more than them, they really fixed Sue Sylvester. I hate that Betty White with all her Emmys still needs to be nominated on name alone when Wendie Malick is right there by her side being much better for this category. I just hope Jane Krakowski not only gets nominated but wins this thing. And this Cloris Leachman talk is worse than a Betty White nod/Wendie Malick snub.

Drama Series: Game of Thrones. I actually think this second nomination won't happen, but then I think about The Good Wife not being nominated and Game of Thrones getting its second nod.

Actor: I guess this is my final year saying this: Hugh Laurie will never win for this role. But I do think he'll be nominated, I wish somebody else could take that place, like Michael C Hall who is pretty much snubbed already.

Actress: Anybody who doesn't say Mariska Hargitay here is just crazy. She's the first thing anybody will think when reading the title of this thread. My jaw will drop further than when Alec Baldwin won the SAG last year AND this year yet again.

Sup Actor: loved Homeland, but I don't want to see Mandy Patinkin nominated here leaving out more deserving men.

Sup Actress: this category looks like it will have deserving nominees either way.

You thought season 2 of Episodes was a disappointment? I thought it was a masterpiece! It really improved from season 1 and Matt LeBlanc, Stephen Mangan, Kathleen Rose Perkins, Tamsin Greig, the face of Daisy Haggard and even John Pankow are H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.! The writing is so funny and it's so incredibly smart. It deserves every nomination it's gonna get at the Golden Globes and the Emmys 2013. I'm especially rooting for Kathleen Rose Perkins for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the season finale. I think it was the best season of 2012 so far...

I really did think it was sort of boring. I still laughed here and there, enjoyed it but some it was painful. Specially those scenes with Matt calling all the Friends to be a guest star on Pucks. It was sort of embarrassing, not because of the asking, but for the writing and the way he was made to perform the scenes.

I think the best part for me was the extended appearances of Myra, those faces are some of the most amazingly funny expressions I've ever seen on tv, the scene in the boardroom while discussing new shows, when she brings up the one with the alien going back home was hilarious.

Several moments were perfectly funny, this past episode with Matt being too fat for the show was great, but some of them were just boring. I do agree that the performances were still good for the most part, John Pankow is perfect in this role, I think Stephen Manghan really did a nice job, but for me it's still disappointing, I mean the finale last year was just Grade A perfection and to have it come back to this wasn't good for me.

I think this show needs a thread...It began on Showtime last week I think.

Mariska Hargitay. I'm sure she's a nicest actress in the world and all (how else she got nominated 100 times?)  but enough is enough.

Oh, and Betty White.

Both Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross did not submit their names this year. So Eva definitely won't be nominated regardless if Melissa or Lena are nominated. Someone suggested that Eva and Marcia being tight with Felicity probably figured Felicity had the best shot at the nomination out of all of them so they decided not to put their names in the mix this year. I mean, I'm all for friendship, but I wish that both Eva and Marcia selfishly thought about their own interests.

The Emmy voters are over the Housewives but it'll be ironic if Felicity is nominated as I think a couple of her co-stars had better seasons.  Also interestingly, Teri dropped down to Supporting Actress this year.
