The 2012 Kennedy Center Honors recipients will be announced in a few weeks (usually around Labor Day). Who do you think will be the five chosen this year? Keep in mind that it will be a mix of genres (film, theatre, television, popular music, and/or performing arts (classical, opera, dance, etc.). Also remember that there will be a mix of genders and at least one minority. The ones selected must be willing to attend. |

Here is a list of possibilities I have assembled (all over age 50) to be considered this year and beyond. The committee generally chooses people beyond age 60 but sometimes will select a person slightly younger. Please feel free to add other names to the conversation or choose from this list.

Thanks, Boomer! Even before you posted the list, I was thinking Bacharach, Hanks, King, Moreno, and White would make for a very entertaining evening, but I'm used to there usually being one or two who I have never heard of before. Anyway, I'll lock in my list for now. |

One word of who should be given the honor CAROL CHANNING (overdue) |

Channing will probably not receive one. Jerry Herman was just honored 18 months ago, and some of the exact same songs would have to be used again. From a production standpoint, they do not want to do that. |

Im thinking Glen Campbell will receive it for music this year. They did a big celebration for him at the Grammy's this year, and he was recently announced to have althzeimers. For Film Performances, I'm thinking they will give it to either Olivia de Havilland, Doris Day, or Joan Fontaine. But my gut is telling me Olivia de Havilland For Film Directors, I'd say Woody Allen will probably get it. For TV Performers, I think its down to three people: Cloris Leachman, Mary Tyler Moore, or Betty White. But I bet Betty White will get it. |

Just remember they have to agree to show up for the entire weekend. I am not sure if Allen, de Havilland, Day or Fontaine would do that. |

Al Pacino received the National Medal of Arts in 2011. He could be on their radar. |

Who knows? Maybe since Peter O'Toole just announced he is retiring from acting, they might choose to honor him! |

With the big re-mounting of Einstein on the Beach, this year could be a very good year for Phillip Glass. You would have a company together to perform from his most important work. |
