So I've been watching some of the episodes of VH1 Classic's One Hit Wonders series, and I've been thinking about what some of my favorite one-hit wonders of the '80s and '90s are (not so much 2000s considering the possibility of those artists having one more hit in the near future). Anyway, I wanted to see what some of your favorite one-hit wonders are, since I'm always up for finding out about (or being reminded of) more! I'm not much of a purist for definitions, so you can use whatever you want (only being remembered for one song, having only one Hot 100 hit, having only one Top 40 hit, etc.). Who knows?? That might even spark some debate! Here are some of mine off the top of my head, but I'm sure I'l lthink of more: * Big Country, "In a Big Country" (VIDEO) * Tom Tom Club, "Genius of Love" (VIDEO) * Deee-Lite, "Groove Is in the Heart" (VIDEO) * The Outfield, "Your Love" (VIDEO) * Michael Penn, "No Myth" (VIDEO) * OMC, "How Bizarre" (VIDEO) |

^Oooh, I used to love "Heard It All Before"!! I remember I heard it at the VMAs for the first time and then wasn't able to listen to it for a long time b/c back then I was in Peru and MTV Latin America didn't ever air it. And then, YouTube happened... Also, I debated whether or not to include Fastball's "The Way" in mine, because according to the technical definition they're one-hit wonders, but not b/c of it. Apparently "The Way" charted only in the Hot 100 Airplay (made it to the top 40 there), but not in the Hot 100; while their later single, "Out of My Head," did make it into the Hot 100 and peaked at #20, making them (technically) one-hit wonders. Weird, huh?? Still, to me "The Way" will always be their one and only hit. :) I gotta check out the other artists you posted, especially Jennifer Paige, since apparently she's from my hometown. |

Love this...I just heard one of my favorites ever this afternoon, If I Could Go by Angie Martinez, I was thinking on doing this list for my blog. If I Could Go - Angie Martinez Hit Em Up Style - Blu Cantrell The Way - Fastball Clothes Off - the original, forgot who sang it, I don't even know if he's a one hit wonder, he does sound like one And this one is just embarrassing, but whenever Lumidee's Never Leave You (Uh Oh) comes up, I just love it all over again. |

Yeah this one is a major guilty pleasure, but it's so catchy. There's a lot of guilty pleasures mentioned in this thread that I like. But let me get old school on you guys for a sec. How about Spiral Starecase's "More Today Than Yesterday?"

Sadly my most favorite singer is most likely labeled a one hit wonder right now and if that really is how James Otto is looked at these days, I pray every day that such a status changes for him some day soon because to me there is no one who sings better than him. No one. (big smile) His only big hit so far: "I Just Got Started Loving You"-This song is from his Sunset Man album and not only was it #1 for two weeks making it the #1 country song of 2008, but it scored James his very first Grammy award nomination the following year for Best Male Country Performance. (smiles) God bless you and him always!!! Holly Listen to my most favorite male singer here sometime y'all! His name is James Otto! |

Do you mean "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" by Jermaine Stewart?? Just heard that one today!! And if so, then yes, he actually would be a one-hit wonder, and a great one at that. |

Exactly! That one, that was later sampled by Gym Class Heroes. I saw it later on a VH1 count down of either greatest songs of the 80s or greatest one hit wonders, that's why I can't remember if it qualifies or not for this. But yeah, it's pretty great and veeeery 80s. |
