Bad in Bed would be a better choice to Deschanel than the Pilot, the Pilot is an ok episode, isn't strong enough.

Amy Poehler - "Win, Lose or Draw" - I was avoiding saying this but this is Poehler's best submission choice ever!  While a lot of episodes do deal with the entire ensemble this episode does a great job of showing us everyone but focusing on Leslie and her campaign.  Every year people discuss which contenders have the most IMPACT in their submissions, in this episode Poehler has more impact than any other female comedy performer this season.  We see zany Leslie, we see sweet Leslie, we see concerned/worried Leslie, we see a humble Leslie, and best of all we see a victorious Leslie.  Even those unfamiliar with the show will be able to relate to this wonderful character and her finally being able to achieve her dreams with the help of her friends.

Zooey Deschanel - Bad In Bed (potential winner)
Lena Dunham - Pilot (because no episode of that show is a winner anyway)
Edie Falco - Handle Your Scandle
Tina Fey - The Tuxedo Begins
Julia Louis-Dreyfus - Chung (potential winner)
Melissa McCarthy - I refuse to acknowledge that she's actually nominated again.
Amy Poehler - Win, Lose or Draw (slam dunk)

Zooey Deschanel has much better episodes than the pilot. She's excellent in "Bad in Bed". Sweet, funny, awkward, touching.

She's also hilarious in the Thanksgiving episode. That scene where she's on the floor, hugging the turkey in order to defrost it was so funny.

Here are my suggestions:

LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES

Alec Baldwiin -- "The Tuxedo Begins"

I thought he was hilarious in this episode. Another great choice for him could be "Live From Studio 6H" for the multiple characters and physical comedy. There's the brother angle with "Kidnapped by Danger" that could be good. If he really doesn't give a flip (like the year he didn't submit "100" and went with "Respawn" instead), he'll go for something throwaway instead.

Larry David -- "Palestinian Chicken"

This was one of the funniest episodes of the year. I think Larry David could win with this episode.

Louis C.K. -- "Subway/Pamela"

It's been said that the first part of the episode might be a turn-off to voters, but I have to think that they're aware enough of what this show is (and isn't) for that not to be such an issue. And if they stick around to the "Pamela" section, they're in for a real treat.

I have to come back to Jim Parsons.

LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES

Lena Dunham -- "Pilot"

This is an excellent episode that set the stage for all that followed for her this year. I think she'll have a better chance winning the Emmy for writing this episode than for acting, but she can win for this too if some of the other contenders stumble.

Edie Falco -- "Handle Your Scandal"

If you needed any proof that Edie Falco is as on top of her game as ever, watch this episode. She had a great scene in "Disneyland Sucks!" that was an early standout, but the season finale is the best episode for her this time.

Tina Fey -- "The Tuxedo Begins"

Great storyline and physical comedy in this episode. I wished that some of her writing was nodded this year though.

Amy Poehler -- "Win, Lose, or Draw"

I wonder if Poehler will end up going for the episode she wrote and directed ("The Debate") or this one. "WLD" has more emotional impact and rootability factor than the former, but she might not be as attached to this episode. I'd go with this one all the same.

I have to come back to Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Zooey Deschanel.

The ones I'm familiar with:

I think Zooey Deschanel should probably go with "Bad in Bed." Hilarious broad comedy (the sex-gone-wrong scene with Justin Long is killer), but there's also a sweet emotional undercurrent (trying to get back in the saddle after her breakup) that gives her tons of empathy.

The more I think about it, the more I think Louis CK should go with "Duckling." It's an hour long. It's Important subject matter. He shows affection for the baby duck and for his daughters, which gives him empathy in spades, and the stand-up scenes are bawdy and hilarious. I personally prefer "Subway/Pamela" as a performance showcase, but "Duckling" is probably a lot more accessible.

I agree that Lena Dunham should submit the pilot episode of "Girls." In this episode she accidentally takes drugs and goes on a big tirade to her parents about needing 1100 a month from them to survive. I think Academy members can relate to her character because I'm sure they have had to support artistic children as well. Also, she is hilarious in the episode when she says "I took drugs." lol

Tina Fey is out of it.
Melissa McCarthy should submit either "Molly needs a Number" or "Molly Can't Lie." I think either of these episodes could give her a shot at winning, although I think the better one out of the two is "Molly needs a number."

Amy Poehler, I don't think she really has a shot at winning it. I mean Parks and Rec has no series nomination anymore and the show didn't gain nominations. Sorry Amy.

Edie Falco should submit the season premiere episode where she goes to have sex with a guy and he dies and she ends up going to into rehab because of that. I think that could be a winning episode for her. Also, her show gained nominations this year, so the Academy really does like the show.

Julia Louis Dreyfus should submit "Fundraiser" as her episode submission. It sets up the series nicely and she has some pretty funny moments in it as well.

Zoey in New Girl should be happy with her nomination and hopefully she won't be like Raising Hope's star who disappeared after getting nominated last year.

Should Tina really submit "The Tuxedo Begins" after the tragedy at the Dark Knight Rises theater in Colorado last night? I think it was one of her best tapes, but now I think it could be an automatic turn-off.

I'd love Deschanel to go with "Bad in Bed", Dunham to pick "Vagina Panic", JLD for "Tears", Poehler for "Win, Lose or Draw", Falco for one of the first 3 episodes of the season.

Baldwin should do "Live From Studio 6H", CK "Country Drive" and David "Palestinian Chicken". Not familiar with the other guys in the category.

Well, since Lena Dunham submitted probably the worst episode she could have, I think this race is now between JLD and Melissa McCarthy. *starts praying that Melissa submits correctly*

-Larry David just might win this year. Isn't "Palenstine Chicken" one of the best episodes of the series?

-Falco shouldn't go with "Disneyland Sucks;" it's too dramatic. I understand why her people would pick it because she is great in it (she deals with going to rehab). But she needs to submit "Handle Your Scandal." It's the explosive season finale where she gets fired. She's very funny, very headstrong, very forceful and has that killer last scene that is just aces ("I fucking made it!")

-If Dunham and her people really want her to win this, they'll go with "She Did." "She Did" is an EXCELLENT submission. It's really funny and has a ton of range and impact. When Dunham and her boyfriend argue over her weight ("I am 13 pounds overweight and it has been AWFUL for me!"), that's one of the standout moments of the season. I think, no matter what, Poehler is winning this year finally. Especially after her well received stunt last year. But if not Poehler, Dreyfus wins. Competitive category but Dunham will win soon if she maintains the quality of her show.

-Baldwin should go with "Kidnapped By Danger." Not only is it one of the best and funniest episodes of the season, but Baldwin gets to play multiple characters and spare with Mary Steenburgen. It'd be a fantastic submission.

-Fey should submit "Today You Are A Man." It's the episode where Liz goes toe to toe with Jack over her new contract. I think every voter in Hollywood can relate to that setup.

My Grammy credentials!

I can't disagree with you more DD about Dunham's submission. She did submit "She did" as her submission, but it is the worst tape of her's. One funny moment and the rest Drama, does not make for a good Comedy submission. She should have gone with the pilot or the return. It's sad that Dunham has basically sabotaged herself now. I'm a fan of the show "Girls" an even I can say that she submitted the wrong episode.

Also, I think the series "Girls" did themselves a real disservice by not submitting "Welcome to Bushwick a.k.a. the crackcident" because that episode focuses mainly on all four girls in one night and show's what a great ensemble show this show really is. Ugh, I think Dunham and "Girls" need an Emmy submission intervention pronto. lol

and Louis C.K. should go with "Duckling", an extra-long episode will help him.

I hope Lena Dunham views this thread so she can save her chances: CHANGE YOUR SUBMISSION LENA TO "THE RETURN." IF YOU DID YOU'D BE A LOCK TO WIN THE EMMY.

*says a prayer that she or one of her people read this in time to save her chances*

McCarthy is not a factor in this race. She is nominated because she won last year. She won last year for Bridesmaids. She has nothing in her favor this year. The race is between Poehler and Dreyfus with Deschanel as the only possible spoiler.
