Which do you think deserved Best Picture in 2007? Im not one of those that thinks There Will Be Blood is the masterpiece everyone makes it out to be, its very well made but I think the Coen's and NCFOM rightfully won, it has better storytelling, direction, editing and suspense and much more deeprt resonating themes. |

There Will Be Blood is a masterpiece like every thing PTA makes. Day-Lewis was at his best don't know if he will ever beat it but he can try. Day-Lewis and Anderson arethe perfect match for each other, I hope they make another fil together. |

No Country For Old Man and by a good margin. Seems like so many people all of a sudden are drinking litres of the the PTA kool-aid and elevating the man and his past works to god-like status which seems a bit much. It's clear he is a competent director an There Will Be Blood is quite good paying special attention to the extraordinary performance he pulled out of Day-Lewis but the film is not a masterpiece. 54-12,12-6,6... to N# 1 in all of North America :) |

I think both are wonderful films, two of the decade's best that just happened to come out in the same year. But for me, I give the slight edge to 'No Country For Old Men'. |

Agreed, I really like Anderson a lot, but a lot of the time his films feel like homages to other directors, I don't think hes established a voice for himself. Technically the guy's brilliant, all his films are technically superb with stunning visuals, but I think his films arnt great in the storytelling department and I don't think There Will Be Blood has anything to say, wheras No Country For Old Men has so much deeper and resonating themes and much more subtext. |

For me, not even close... THERE WILL BE BLOOD is easily PTA's finest film to date and the coen brothers have at least 5 other films i enjoy more than NCFOM...at the time, i was so against the Coen's winning for inferior work to FARGO...IMO their best film. Now i even enjoy A SERIOUS MAN, RAISING ARIZONA, BLOOD SIMPLE, THE BIG LEBOWSKI AND FARGO more than No country for old Men.. I thought it was a bit muddled at the end..and I was not impressed with Javier Bardem's acting or Josh Brolin's for that matter. What DDL did with daniel plainview was astonishing..I had read the book the film was based on and i was NOT prepared for paul Thomas Anderson's riveting, hold your breath style of direction..it was an amazing achievement on all levels... acting, direction, story telling, and every technical aspect!! DDL gave what i now consider the finest BEST ACTOR performance of all time...I can never turn my eyes away from this film, whenever it is on and no matter where i come in.. |

Honestly... I think they are both incredibly boring and self-indulgent. Great performances, but my feelings on both of them after seeing them for the first time was "meh.." After seeing them both a second time, however, my response to NCFOM was anger that I just wasted another couple hours of my life, whereas my response to TWBB was still "meh.." So I guess that means TWBB wins? Though NCFOM has some more memorable individual scenes that I really think are great. |

I'm in the club of There Will Be Blood. I honestly feel it should have won Best Picutre, Director and Adapted Screenplay over No Country for Old Men. My favorite aspect of No Country for Old Men was Javier Bardem and I'd never begrudge his won, but it's a shame he didn't have Paul Dano nominated with him to nip at his heels. (I would have opted for Bardem but it still would have made a great match.) If The Master is as great as all of PTA's other films, I don't see him being stopped this upcoming awards season. He's brining a due factor with him and also, possibly, making us forget about Joaquin Phoenix's I'm Still Here stunt. |

This! And from the buzz "The Master" is getting, it's looking like a great follow up for Paul. |

There Will Be Blood. No Country for Old Men was a great film, but the Coen's best work to date remains to be Fargo, which was robbed of Best Picture. Early buzz for The Master is suggesting that it could be a big Oscar contender, so I expect it to be a great follow-up to Blood. And nobody was beating Daniel Day-Lewis or Javier Bardem that year. Two performances with "OSCAR" written all over them. If Bardem had been nominated for Best Actor (which he wouldn't have been, he was too clearly supporting), they would have tied.

No country for old men is an excelent movie but There will be blood is extraordinary. Deserve Best picture, directos, actor, supporting actor (Paul Dano), editing, cinematography (won), adapted screenplay and sound. |

No Country For Old Men gets my vote. I did enjoy the performances of Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano, but No Country For Old Men was the movie that I enjoyed better. |
