Is Lena Dunham the first Orson Welles/Warren Beatty of the Emmy world? The first person to be nominated as writer/director/producer/performer at the Emmys?

Louis C.K. is so damn close to getting the same recognition, but voters need to open up and accept his show for what it is. Amy Poehler could have done it this year as well, but nope....damn you Emmy voters! damn you!

Ricky Gervais got those nominations for Extras, a special for the finale or something like that. Plus another producer nod for The Office. It was in 2008 and he lost all five nods.

But I do think they are the only ones to have something like this since many people like Tina Fey aren't directors or Alan Alda for MASH wasn't a producer.

I forgot about Gervais in mini-series/movies, but Lena Dunham is still the first in series. I can't believe that if Alda was a writer, director and the star of such a hit series as M*A*S*H that they didn't give him some kind of producer credit...

What about Larry David?

Curb is not eligible in writing, therefore, no writing nominations.

Wow. This is huge for Lena Dunham. Has she been interviewed yet here at Gold Derby? If not, someone book that interview pronto, not only to tell her of this milestone she has achieved but to also tell her she has massively botched her Lead Comedy Actress submission and put herself at spot #7 in terms of winning.

Orson Welles is the only credible comparison. Warren Beatty often forced his name onto the script so he could get a writing credit. Congrats Lena!!!

The best album of the year so far. "Past Gone" is the best song of the year as well. Check out Mike Stud's debut album on iTunes.

Louis C.K. might still apply here, with an asterisk. He's nommed for writng, directing and acting in "Louie," but he's ALSO nominated for writing, directing, editing and producing his "Louis C.K. Live at the Beacon Theatre" comedy special, under Outstanding Special Class Programs (he'd probably be up for performing, too, if that category still existed). The Emmys website hasn't updated their site to include producers, but he has seven nods this year.

Louis C.K.'s stand-up special, Live at the Beacon Theatre, was nominated for Special Class Program and he's a producer on that. Doesn't that mean he's nominated for writing, directing, producing and performing (and editing too actually) this year? I think it does.

It's weird that Curb isn't eligible for Writing categories at the Emmys. It's been nominated for 5 Writer's Guild awards and won one of those times for the script outlines Larry David writes.

He's not eligible because he only receives 'Story by' credits and all of the dialogue is improvised. It's sad b/c I guarantee he would've won several writing Emmys by now over less-deserving contenders.
