The show has confirmed that Ronn Moss has chosen to leave B&B. His last airdate is in September. |

I am kinda sad about this news. Ronn may not be the best actor, but I think he ended up taking the flack for what was actually Brad Bell's lack of creativity. Plus his chemistry with KKL was legendary. And Ridge Forrester pretty much is an archetype defining character. |

I would have never thought that this will ever happen. What he will do for the living now? I was always sure that it will be Susan Flannery who will be the first one to quit as she was vocal about the possibility for some time now. The biggest question is how will they cover this exit? Will Ridge move out from Los Angeles or die? What about Brooke's future? Nick isn't on the show anymore so... yet another new love interest? Recast with someone charismatic would be the best option. |

Ted King? I see him more as Bill Spencer though. Trevor St John as a recast or new character? Vincent Irizarry had chemistry with everyone on AMC, so he might be a safe bet for the web of sluts that is B&B. My guess is they try to get Jack Wagner back or mix Brooke in with Bill/Katie. My vote would be to start a Brooke vs Felicia rivalry. Or they could bring Bridget and Owen back and go the classic route of have Brooke rock the world of another one of her daughters' men. |

I am hoping that this is an Eric Braeden situation and it gets resolved quick, b/c too many of these stars realize that this is not 1988 when these shows were hits. Paycuts are necessary. I didn't even know he was an original band memeber of that group who does the Chilli's song. But to give the man some credit between that and other things, I assume he has saved up well so that he could do something like this. I also think you can't do a recast. Yeah he's not a good actor, but he is one of the faces of that show. And unlike the remaining soaps, B&B is an international hit. And on a personal note, this will be an interesting convo w/my mom since B&B is the only soap she watches now. |

I haven't always been a regular viewer of B&B and seldom watch. But I have to ask...Has Moss ever actually delivered an Emmy worthy storyline? Like Drake Hogestyn, he is one of the "faces" of daytime that has received bashing after bashing after bashing. I'm asking honestly to all of the regular viewers: Was there ever even a single episode where you thought, "Wow, he could totally win an Emmy with this episode"? |

Nope. He was probably the last main cast member in discussion. I think he gave his best performance when Taylor "died" in Ridge's arms in 2002 and was good here and there but paled in comparision to Hunter Tylo and John McCook, not to mention KKL and Susan Flannery. |

^^ Yeah I figure he was originally cast because his look was perfect for Ridge and a lot was forgiven because of his chemistry with KKL and Hunter Tylo. While he does get bashed a lot and is certainly nowhere close to being a great actor, I sometimes consider him to be the best of the worst in that, of the bad actors on Daytime, he tended to be the most tolerable day to day, and of all the annoying airheaded male characters on soaps, I was most amenable to his portrayal of Ridge's stupidity. |

I was shocked to see this news, and it's kind of sad to realize that this is the world we live in now. I wish Ronn the best in whatever he does going forward, and I'm incredibly curious to know what that will be. I also wonder what this will mean for Brooke. Being forced out of her cycle with Ridge could actually be a wonderful thing for the character, depending on what direction they take things with her. On another note, Nancy Lee Grahn had some insights into the situation with actors quitting shows over money issues, basically saying that the stars are within their rights to leave if they want, but fan sympathy is superfluous given how much more than most soap actors these stars are usually making when they refuse the pay cuts. Brad Bell's Interview w/Michael Logan I think it would be a mistake to recast Ridge. I am one for the show going on and that jazz, but like I have said he is that show's Eric Braeden and a new face would be difficult to accept (even if the recast is a great actor). |

Let's just pretend that a recast is going to happen... which ultimately seems likely, who would you cast in the role? According to an article on Entertainment Weekly's website, Bell says he is considering "some unusual people" for the role (i'm paraphrasing here)... Who would you cast? He also says he might go a little bit younger, but stay true to the basic age range of the character. They could go any number of ways with this role and it would be interesting, and could end up being better than anything Moss ever brought to the plate. I like the Tim Gibbs suggestion. Other possibilities: Robert Kelker-Kelly, Rob Estes (not sure he'd be willing to do daytime, but maybe worth a shot), Patrick Muldoon. Actually, I think Muldoon would be a great pick. He's younger but certainly not too young for Brooke and Taylor, he still looks fantastic without a shirt on, and his Austin was as clueless as Ridge much of the time.

I love the idea of Patrick Muldoon for this, but I LOVE the idea of Robert Kelker-Kelly. A vastly underrated actor, however something tells me he isn't looking to return to daytime anytime soon. Rob Estes is too mature and intelligent for this role. I think this calls for a total re-imagining of the character; perhaps Ridge is somehow injured in a horrific accident and when he returns to the canvas from his recovery he is a totally different person who has re-though his life plan? This could allow them to totally change the character; re-define his relationships and allow him room to work with other characters. It would 100% re-boot the series.
