I'm torn between "Arrested Development", "30 Rock" and "Seinfeld", so I haven't voted yet.

I like a few season of "Friends" and "Sex And The City", and I understand why they are very popular, but I don't think they are at the same level of those three, but I know that one of the two will probably win.

I had to think hard on this one. I didn't know if I should go by the season in which a series won or the overall series from beginning to end. Ultimately, I chose Sex and the City (which doesn't have that many votes to my surprise). It's inspired flop-after-flop with a few actually succeeding here and there (Gossip Girl). I don't think it was intended for this show's audience to care so deeply for all four of its main characters and even the supporting characters. A great friend of mine made her boyfriend watch the series because it was her all-time favorite (she in return watched his all-time favorite, The Sopranos), and he, a completely straight guy, said, "It's not my type of show at all, but for what it is, it's very well written and acted." And I did not take into consideration the SATC films for this poll.

Arrested Development is an easy second. They're apples-and-oranges type of shows but two of the best ever made that I'm happy Emmy recognized.

This hard. I grew up Friends being my all-time favorite and it wasn't until recently that I discovered The Office and 30 Rock... So I will probably vote 3 times for each one. Oh, and for Moderm Family. I haven't watched Sex and the City, Seinfield or AD, so no comments on that.

I also would like to point out just how much better the Comedy winners are when compared to the Drama ones. American televesion was capable of good dramas in the 90's, but it's was also making great comedies. The sitcom really is one of the most truly american forms of entertainment, huh? That's a good thing by the way. IMO, with the exception of maybe  "Murphy Brown" (watched a few episodes recently and it just feels so dated and uninspired), all of these shows had very strong moment moments. Even "Raymond", that is a show I don't like, was able to have pretty good episodes in it's run. This is a very impressive list.

Frasier.  My personal favorite would be Cheers (which ended in 1993).

I chose "Seinfeld" because of influence, it has that kind of seismic impact on comedy writing that, for a few seasons there, almost every episode fet vital to television comedy in a way. That's why almost none of the great shows that feel representative of a generation or a style of comedy done afterwards feels like they owe something to "Seinfeld" in a way, from "Friends" to "Arrested development" to even "30 Rock".

Not to mention I love the show so much, and I find the cast incredible. Also, I loved how it introduced this concept of using recurring guests in more than just episodic form, since they always felt very interconnected to events of prior seasons, and their ramifications as well as other characters. And so many their storylines for an episode would have such an impact, that many times would come back to fuck with them, sometimes for several seasons, creating a feeling that you're watching this highly dysfunctional world. It's was about nothing, but some very intricate and precise nothing.
