"If the show with 3/5 of the nominations has won 13/20 times, that
pretty much follows basic probability (which would have the show with
the three nom win 12 times instead of 13)." Exactly.

That is so confusing. You were wrong. Let's move on. Or wait, maybe you didn't know that the guest tapes are narrowed down to only the person's nominated scenes. | sorry if I sound condescending, rude or something of that nature. I don't want to seem like a bitch. There's enough people here with their egos up to their neck, I dont want to be another one. :)

Spencer and Streep were both sharing frontrunner position with Chastain and Viola Davis, so yeah, many people considered them extremely likely to win, I hardly think anyone was really surprised at the results. Dujardin wasn't a slam-dunk, but he was seen as a strong possibility, and was in three horse race that was Dujardin-Clooney-Pitt. So yeah, the Oscar results were kinda obvious after a point. |

Regardless of when you personally decided that they were winning, everyone knew at some point before the ceremony that The Artist, Hazanivicius, Dujardin, Spenser, etc. were winning. |

Pitt wasn't even that much of a force to consider, coming from a guy who paid a lot of attention to the precursors. Dujardin won a Globe and the SAG, and Clooney won a Globe, as well. The former had definitely shifted into the frontrunner position. Streep came as a very slight shock to me, but only because I thought Viola had a little bit of an edge. She was still considered a spoiler all throughout the race, though. AwardsContender was predicting Spencer's win since The Help opened in theaters.

But YOU'RE wrong. You can't say let's move on and get the last word when you lie. That's not how human contact is supposed to work. It's like...my least favorite trait. YOU said "Didn't you see? Every year where there has been 3 or more actors nominated in the same category for the same show, one of those actors/actresses wins." From TV12's post: "There have been 3 nominees from one show in a single category 20 times, and only 7 times have they lost. -In 1983, the guys on Hill Street Blues lost James Coco from St. Elsewhere. -In 1985 and 1988, the guys of Cheers lost to Emmy darling John Larroquette from Night Court. -In 1989, the ladies of The Golden Girls lost to the Emmy darling Candice Bergen from Murphy Brown and the ladies of L.A. Law lost to Melanie Mayron from Thirtysomething. -In 1994, the girls of NYPD Blue lost to Leigh Taylor-Young from Picket Fences. -In 1997, the ladies of ER lost to Kim Delaney from NYPD Blue." I do NOT see.

The last time three nominees from the same show all lost to someone who is from another show happened in 1997. The last time three (or more) nominees from the same show resulted to a win from one of the nominees happened just last year. Go figure. While there is still a possibility that all MF men will lose, it is highly unlikely since the last occurrence of that happened 15 years ago. However since then, all the succeeding instances for series regulars resulted to the win being from the show with the most nominees. Tides change and trends happen, but I don't sere any scenario this year that indicate there will be a change this time. |

Well, I felt confident about Jessica Lange for American Horror Story and about Modern Family for Comedy before feeling confident about any of the major Oscar winners. Even though the Emmys haven't happened yet and the Oscars were almost half a year ago. I suppose I could be wrong about one of them. But I've never felt so confident about an Oscar winner 8-9 months in advance.

I know I'm basically contradicting myself, but if you read my whole post, I do it there as well. The problem with all of these losses and even the wins is that this was when supporting tapes were edited down to only each actors' scenes for both episodes (back when they submitted two). Therefore, the only judge for 3+ nominations where all actors shared scenes is the Modern Family actors. So Maxwell Grey was actually more correct, if you get my drift. The best album of the year so far. "Past Gone" is the best song of the year as well. Check out Mike Stud's debut album on iTunes. |

I love how this is the same goof that a few days ago someone brought up and Tom condescendingly answered back with a "Well, I'm holding his episode right now and it reads "Bad in Bed."" And everyone was just like "Oh, OK Tom." |

I understand that but the condescension coupled with the complete disregard at the time is funny to me. Nobody really challenged Tom based on the fact he just said it even thoughy we've been told for over month now that the tapes were different and that if he actually had the tapes the whole time and didn't figure it out right away then the forum figured it out. So, he essentially was condescending to the people that were responsible for "Gold Derby uncovers Emmy goof: ATAS to redo the vote". |

It says it in the title, Rob.. 'Goldderby uncovers Emmy goof', not 'Tom O'Neil uncovers Emmy goof'. I don't know about the condescension part, not sure where that occurred, but the credit was given where it belongs (it seems). |

You're missing the point entirely. It isn't "Gioldderby Forums" and Tom is Gold Derby. He didn't say he thought they would be furious at us, he said he thought they would be furious at him. It's fine if you all want to be idolaters of Tom and ignore that when someone brought it up he initially shrugged it off, I don't really care. That isn't my point. I just find that fact amusing. |
