Are people for real? This is really weird! I don't understand the appeal towards the film and the fact that people are predicting Golden Globe/SAG/Oscar nominations for Tatum and Matthew. M is just ridiculous! What do you guys think? |

I somewhat get the appeal, but if you're gonna make a movie about male strippers and it's not particularly erotic, then it has to add up to more than a decent character drama. The acclaim it got came from very low expectations. My personal opinion aside, award nominations (even from the Globes) are unlikely.

I know right? The film to me was pretty awful. I mean if it just focused on the male stripping sequences it would've been fine, but the fact that it went off on some other plot with the drug dealing was boring. Idk why it got such acclaim, I will go down to say it was one of the worst summer films this year I have seen. I'm not sure why people think Tatum is a lock for the Golden Globe nomination. He didn't do anything that great or awards worthy. |

That film is nothing but eye-candy for me. And not even that good eye-candy, since Tatum is way too buff for my taste. It was surprising to me how incredibly undeveloped the story is. I went in expecting a lot of clichées, and a lot of them were covered, like Mike having a big heart and a business idea, the new guy introduced to stripping eventually becoming a pusher, the romance between his sister and Mike etc., but none of them were solved in the way I expected them to. No, infact they were not solved at all. At the end I was like, "Wait, that's it?! What was this about?" So many loose ends. But if you take it as it is, a snapshot of a bunch of light-minded people saying stupid things and acting immature, I guess you could say it's a realistic portrayal of this certain group of people.
And if you wanna make sense
Whatcha looking at me for? |

Is there really that much competition this year with Supporting Actor? I'm not saying Matthew has a chance of being nominated, but it really looks like a dry category if Tom Wilkinson is the frontrunner, |

I've never seen any predictions for Tatum. MM is better is Killer Joe, but he's good here. |

I know, right? I am so bemused that people are even mentioning Magic Mike and Oscar (or even Golden Globe!) in the same sentence. But don't worry, there's no way in hell the film will garner any nominations, lol. |
