Just when I thought Usher was trying to start some trend and bring R&B back to the forefront of music, he releases a safe dance track for pop acceptance. So much for that new genre, "revolutionary pop." |

Hey, Usher has to sell records. Let's face it, pure R&B music isn't selling like that. I like "Scream." It screams hit (pun intended). Glad "Climax" is a top 20 hit. That is my jam! |

I still can't believe "Hot Tottie" wasn't a hit yet that stupid ass DJ song was. HT is one of his best songs yet. I'd love to hear him sing about other things instead of seeking out whores. |

"Hot Tottie" is a hot track, while ""DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love" is mediocre. I can see why the latter was a hit. As of lately, crappy/mediocre songs fare well on the Billboard Hot 100. |

I get that you're a very big fan of Usher's, but since when has a song like "Scream" sold albums? It sells on iTunes but it does nothing for album sales. This sounds like the same stuff you complain about in the Hot 100 thread. "Climax" still has a lot of room to grow. It's sitting at #20 on the Hot 100. Now he's going to give more attention to this song over the superior "Climax." Oh well. Anything for a pop hit. Good for him. He has SNL coming up, so this will be his chance to perform both songs. I just have a feeling "Climax" won't be promoted much after that. |

God, "Scream" is so awful. Great way to make him lose all of the goodwill I started having towards him after "Climax". And you people complain about Rihanna's singles, but this is much worse, much, much worse. I kinda hate him for releasing something so uninspired. If he wants to do a dance/pop track, fine, but the whole Guetta-like thing is tired. I seriously hope this doesn't means he gave up on "Climax" becoming a hit, as I really did believe it only needed a few other weeks to reach top 10. But I guess Usher simply doesn't have the guts to try to be a trendsetter, has he? |

I'm shocked that Usher is releasing something more pop on the heels of "Climax" just starting to explode. It really could have been an "out of the box" song that became a massive hit. (yes, sadly a pure R&B ballad is an "out of box" top 40 song these days). Strange decision. |

Yeek "Scream" sucks badly, I don't care for "Climax" either. He's definitely not starting this era well at all. I think he's one of the few artists who have a number one hit on every album. We'll have to see what happens this time. |

I find "Scream" to be a little bit better than what's on the Hot 100. Though "Climax" is the superior record. I mean, you can't blame Usher and his label for putting out dance/pop tracks. That's what's 'in' now. The song will sell on iTunes and it could translate into album sales. Time will tell. I could see Usher promoting both songs throughout the summer, thus keeping the album a constant mainstay on the charts. SNL only helps. Plus, I'm sure he'll do a slew of other shows. I know Usher isn't your precious Adele.
