The Grammys nominations special is airing on December 5, 2012, so I thought it was time to get some final predictions going. Do as many or as little categories as you like, but at least tackle the general field nominees. I think it could be one of those "anything goes" years, so there might be less consensus here than in most cycles.

great idea. reserving the spot here ;) every prediction & alternate is in order of its chance... i feel i will suck at predicting this year. i fear the best album among my nominees (El Camino) can be snubbed. i hope Bieber thing won't happen but i don't think fun. or Pink are strong enough to take 2nd pop slot. i was even considering complete fun.'s snub in GF but i might be just delusional ;) ALBUM OF THE YEAR 1. ALBUM OF THE YEAR Black Keys "El Camino" Florence + The Machine "Ceremonials" Frank Ocean "Channel Orange" Miranda Lambert "Four The Record" Mumford & Sons "Babel" Almost put in: Drake "Take Care", Pink "The Truth About Love", Maroon 5 "Overexposed" - I know I'm being far too optimistic here, but I have faith in the Grammys. I actually thought they did a solid job of AOTY last year, except for Rihanna. I'm praying they don't put Maroon 5 or the Beiber in AOTY... either would be a travesty. I don't think Rihanna gets in here two years in a row for two mediocre albums. As for my picks... "Ceremonials" just had too many singles and was too amazing to ignore, Grammys have proved before they love the Black Keys and "El Camino" is their best yet, Frank Ocean is the breakthrough of the year, Miranda will get the country vote and it's a great album, and Mumford... well, c'mon. RECORD OF THE YEAR Black Keys "Lonely Boy" Florence + The Machine "Shake It Out" Fun. "We Are Young" Gotye f/ Kimbra "Somebody That I Used To Know" Maroon 5 f/ Wiz Khalifa "Payphone" Almost put in: Adele "Set Fire to the Rain (Live)", Frank Ocean "Thinking Bout You", Kelly Clarkson "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)", Mumford & Sons "I Will Wait" - I think Fun. and Gotye are locks at this point, but a lot of people said that about "Moves Like Jagger" and "Pumped Up Kicks" last year too. Or "Beautiful" by Xtina a few years back. But I'm pretty confident... If I'm wrong about anything here, it's my Florence bias blinding me... and Adele or Mumford will take that spot. I think "Thinkin Bout You" is too low key and lacks the punch for ROTY... there were much better songs on the album. I still have great hope for Kelly Clarkson, and almost put her in. And Grammy may not be able to resist the chance to award Adele again, but it's more likely she goes Solo Pop. I feel like damn Maroon 5 has to get some kind of nom in the Big 3, and it would most likely be here... "Payphone" is eligible, I hope? Oh, and I know a lot of people are putting Taylor Swift here for "We Are Never Getting Back Together", but I think the song is far too divisive... A lot of her fans hated it. It's far more likely that goes in Solo Pop, and Taylor get other noms for Country Duo/Group and Song from a Movie. SONG OF THE YEAR Florence + The Machine "Shake It Out" Frank Ocean "Thinking Bout You" Fun. "We Are Young" Miranda Lambert "Over You" Mumford & Sons "I Will Wait" Almost put in: Emile Sande "Next To Me", Jason Mraz "I Won't Give Up", Bruce Springsteen "We Take Care of Our Own", Black Keys "Lonely Boy" - Just went with my instincts here. It's kind of unlikely that only 2 Record/Songs match up... so now I'm thinking Mumford does get in for ROTY. We'll see! BEST NEW ARTIST Ellie Goulding Frank Ocean Fun. Gotye One Direction Almost put in: Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd - I think Frank, Fun., Gotye, and One Direction are all locks at this point... The 5th slot is a wild card, and it could go to anyone. I went with Goulding because "Lights" was such a breakout hit and "Anything Could Happen" is even better. MORE PREDIX: BEST SOLO POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE Adele "Set Fire to the Rain (Live)" Jason Mraz "I Won't Give Up" Kelly Clarkson "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" Pink "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" Taylor Swift "We Are Never Getting Back Together" BEST GROUP/DUO POP VOCAL PERFORMANCE Florence + The Machine "Shake It Out" Fun. People are reserving a spot to edit in their predictions later. But you do not have to do that if you don't want to. The sooner you post them, the better. I want to get the tallies started this week instead of counting a flood of ballots on Dec. 5. So get those predictions in guys! Thanks!
