The new opening looks nice, but it is kind of a rip-off to the cast to take away their proper acknowledgement.  No one would dream of cutting out the names of the crew in the closing credits or in the early scenes of each episode, so why do TPTB feel it is acceptable to do it to the cast?  I wondered the same thing about ATWT when they adopted the super short opening too.

I think a lot of the unsuccessful attempts at "suspense" in the Kate/Connie stuff is Valentini's doing.  He is known for being very hands-on, and I am wondering if he is directing the wide-eyed stuff out of Kelly Sullivan in a lame attempt to trick us into thinking she is remembering things, only for the next day to be status quo.  And I still find that style of story telling highly annoying and unintelligent.

Jason's awkward moment wanting to switch seats and the plane passengers ignoring him was kind of endearing.

Carly has always been smart and a hell-raiser, so why was she not suspicious of Sam and preaching the good in all people?  I don't think that recasting the role would help matters.  I agree that it is hard to watch Carly in attack mode because Laura Wright's style can be very harsh, but so was Sarah Brown only it worked at that time because Carly was the underdog.  Current Carly is so entitled that I do not think she would be more likeable with any actress in the role.  There have been times where current Carly has been in her sweet-spot, where she was more mature and funny while maintaining her inner fire, and they need to find that space and keep the character there rather than the overly harsh bully or unrealistically sweet versions we have been seeing.

The dialogue in the courtroom about how Alexis could not save Kate and all thanks to Starr for doing so seemed like a thinly veiled message from Frank and Ron on art imitating life.  They clearly think that GH could not handle itself and that they are here to save the show.  Fair or not, I think someone should remind them whose show got cancelled.

I might get it for this, but I saw some nice chem w/both Chad and Kristen on today's show. It was very cute and easy their scenes in the apartment. I think the revamp of the Haunted Star looks like a high end sex shop. And though Ford 2.0 isn't my fave, the casting got it right w/the look. He does look like the offspring of Kelly and Richard. And speaking of those two, I think for the first time, since Sebastian Roche, we have a viable advisary w/Joe Jr.

The new opening I like except for the bad photoshopping of the cast pics.

I guess I will accept the quick explanation of how Connie is the alter not the original even though I think the story would have been much better if it was the other way around, especially since the rest of the characters would rather have Kate around than Connie.

The rest of yesterday's show was pretty good.

What a great episode.  Same gimmicky stuff, but it was done really well.

Molly and TJ were cute, Maurice Benard was convincing, and I might actually be enjoying parts of Starr's presence.  I find watching Kelly Monaco to be so tedious though, and want to reach into the screen and hand her a red bull to combat her sluggish mannerisms.

Sam knowing that Todd is a rapist was strictly a plot point, and it would have worked fine had Sam mentioned it to Spinelli, for example, before she took the job.  I think it would have supported the story line to show that Sam was uncomfortable working for Todd because she knew about his past and was a victim herself not so long ago.  Similar point for Kate; it would have been interesting to see her interaction with Todd had she told him about the rape (even though that would have been completely unrealistic).

So happy to see Kelly Sullivan back as Kate in business mode, like in her early days on the show.  I loved her reaction when she walked off the elevator, and the way she managed to be charming at moments during her bitchery throughout the rest of the episode was great.

Another decent episode today.

I liked that Molly and Kristina got the upperhand on Alexis.  Alexis' preaching gets annoying really fast so this has been a welcomed change.  Plus nuKristina is definitely putting in the effort, and, while soaps rightfully maximize the scantily clad men, I personally did appreciate Kristina's wardrobe.

Anna, Tracy, and Heather were fun as always.

Of course John would get exactly what he wanted in the end.  What a drag.  Too bad this does not mean that he is leaving, because the constant favoring of John and Sam both individually and together in the writing is getting really hard to digest.

Well after two great episodes, Friday was a bit of  letdown.  The Sonny/Jason dialogue was another useless recap of events and did not progress the story or character development in any way, and the John/Sam scenes felt very forced and the actors' chemistry has fizzled already IMO.

Starr/Michael is working, but it is not interesting.  Chad Duell is way too good of an actor for a run of the mill teen scene romance, and the 'you look hot' and 'rock the boat' dialogues were lame.  For the former, it would have been far better if Michael had said it on purpose and then denied it rather than the route they went with Starr misunderstanding him.  Yet another example of how the new regime thinks being gimmicky has some sort of intrinsic value rather than using it to achieve something greater.

On a more positive note however, I am glad that they are showcasing Anna's smarts, and Finola Hughes can do no wrong.

I like Starr and Michael together now too. It's weird that I am warming up to her as this classic soap young leading lady especially since I was saying (and still stand by it) that is what did the character in on OLTL. I guess new show, new rules lol.

Was that Sonny and Brenda's music they used for John/Sam at the end of the show?  Not cool.

Getting sick of Todd constantly praising Vicki.  None of the GH characters care, and frankly neither does the audience.

I felt bad for Laura Wright trying to be a noteworthy presence today when she really served no purpose.  Give the woman something to do.  Now.

Lulu and Maxie confronting Patrick was amazing.  Jason Thompson is such a good actor, and I liked how JMB played it calm and rational rather than trying to get Lulu as emotional as Patrick and Maxie.

Isn't that a hot mess!? I get that this is trying times, but you would think that some musical cues would just be off limits, but alas. And plus they have that OLTL music person on the team, so surely he can come up some dramatic music for those two, but I guess making songs for Kristen Alderson to "sing" is a priority. Totally random post, but I am so glad that JMB face has settled in, b/c she looks good.

Blooper alert:  Anna said Dante recovered the gun from the Q boat house, but he was not there.

Love Roger Howarth and Robin Mattson together and seperate.  I wonder if RH ad libs some of his lines because he is consistently hilarious.  But Todd protecting Sam made me want to hurl even though it made sense.

Good eye acting from Steve Burton today.  Kind of predictable, but well executed.

As soon as the Michael/Jason scenes started I felt like it should have been Carly.  Carly is Jason's best friend.  Not Robin (as per the inaccurate promo when she died), not Sonny, not Elizabeth, and not Michael.  And Michael's suggestion of cheese fries was so Carly-esque that it felt like a slap in the face.  First they water down and backburn the charater, and then they add salt to the wound by distributing some of her trademark mannerisms to other characters without acknowledgement.

I remember y'all making the Blair comparisons to Carly, but now I am seeing it. The pairing w/the obvious bad men and being completely oblivious to what is going on w/her children. Though Laura Wright's Carly is accused of beinfg snarling and braless, I would take those days than what she has become. Hoping she doesn't go down the Phyllis Newman path, b/c that is a point of no return lol.

So they think this trolling of the show's waring fanbases is cute. I am not a fan of either, but I prefer Jason and Sam together and Liz to be the one w/Patrick or Dr. Accent w/Abs, but no. And John, despite the still hot PC magic, works so much better in cop mode for this show.

Yesterday's show was pretty decent.

Robin Mattson hit all the right notes looking badass as she was arrested, then truly vulnerable and panicked at the police station.  Plus she manages be hilarious on top of it all.  Can't say enough good things about Finola Hughes either.

It was Rebecca Herbst's turn for champion eye acting.  That kind of thing, when done right, goes a long way.  Actually, the Liz/Sam/Jason stuff was pretty tolerable despite Kelly Monaco continuing to be the obvious weak link in the cast.

The Todd/Carly flirting is fun, provided that it remains nowhere serious.  I know Laura Wright has barely a handful of fans around here, but I find her overt expressions very charming.

Summer promo.

I agree. Robin was BRENDA'S best-friend, not Jason's. In fact Jason and Robin haven't interacted much in recent years.   Carly and Jason are best friends, this is well-established.

But this brings me to another point: Friendships in general haven't been well-written in years. Remember when they would cleary establish two characters as best friends and then slowly over time allow said friendship to crumble after betrayl or sometimes even become stronger when they overcame something together.

Using GH as an example, we had friendships between Domnique and Lucy that provided years of drama (even after Dom's death); Monica and Bobbie that was often tested; Sean and Luke (Robert & Luke), Felicia and Lucy and so on... more recently, Emily and Elizabeth or Alexis & Diane.

I think that writers often underestimate the power of writing a solid frienship.   Oftentimes it is one's friends that provide clarity, insight or the most heart-wrenching betrayl that drive good story.

In your soul there's answers to your prayers"- Whtiney Houston, Exhale

^^  Well said.

Good end to the week for the last two days.  Pacing seemed slow at times, but that's forgiveable I guess.

Gonna miss Jen Lilley.  She really made Maxie her own without sacrificing the character's core.  Plus, her softer style makes her more believable as Felicia's daughter than Kirsten Storms.

I liked how Nancy Lee Grahn's entire energy changed when TJ accused Alexis of having racially charged motives on Thursday.  It was a turning point for Alexis in those scenes, and Grahn made a beautiful transition where she could have taken the easy route and played the change as abrupt instead.  Nicely done.

Luke's hallucinations were a waste of time on Friday, but the way it ended makes me think Monday will be the good kind of silly.

Hair and makeup got it right with Kristen Alderson (they need to make her look older like this more often), but why were so many of the other characters (male and female) sporting the same distracting lip colour?

Kelly Sullivan carried Kate's multiple emotions well in the Kate/Sonny scenes.  I liked that she captured Kate's strength after weeks of her wimpering, Sonny's reaction when Kate sat in the chair, and that their conversation recapped something that happened off-screen rather than the new norm for this show of recapping something we just recently saw happen with no other value added.  Monday could be a day to watch for Sullivan too.

Overall pretty solid stuff.
