Potential Black actors/actress who could earned Oscar-nominations for next year. Hopefully some of these actors and actresses can return as returing nominees/winners and maybe we may see some new faces in the race. Here are some early buzzed films that  we should keep our eye on right now.

Django Unchained: Jamie Foxx (Best Actor), Samuel L. Jackson (Best Supporting Actor) and maybe Kerry Washington (Best Supporting Actress). I think it would be great to see Jamie get another nomination. IF Samuel knocks it out the park then he will no doubt take home the Oscar. I'm not for sure how big Kerry Washington's role is but from what I heard it could be a scene stealing performance.

Yelling to the Sky: Zoe Kravitz (Best Actress), Gabourey Sidibe/Antonique Smith/Shareeka Epps (Best Supporting Actress). It would definitely need to create a lot of buzz and support to gain any awards traction.

Won't Back Down: Viola Davis (Best Actress). It would be nice to see Viola return as nominee again :). The film was originally supposed to come out in March but the studio pushed it back to September. Maggie Gyllenhaal & Holly Hunter also stars in the film.

Sparkle: Carmen Ejogo & Whitney Houston (Best Supporting Actress). I personally didn't care for the original. Carmen is playing Sister, the meatiest role. Houston's role as the girls mother, Effie has been expanded and includes some musical numbers. It say be interesting to see.

Cloud Atlas: Halle Berry (Best Actress). I'm not sure how she would be campaigned when the film comes out. I hope that the film does well and gets Halle back in the spotlight.

Flight: Denzel Washington (Best Actor) & Don Cheadle (Best Supporting Actor). The direct, Robert Semeckis, is an Oscar-winning director. Also the last time Washington & Cheadle worked together was in the underrated film Devil in a Blue Dress.

Beasts of the Southern Wild: This sundance fave, was recently acquired by Fox Searchlight Pictures. The film stars newcomers Quvenhane Wallis (who I predict will be a breakthrough performer throughout the season) & Dwight Henry. We'll see how much support and push it gets once it's released.

Anthony Mackie: He has 5 films being released or scheduled to come out this year. Hopefully one of these films maybe The Gangster Squad would be the film to get him some awards attention.

I do expect nods for Lewis and Field. But what do you guys think of "Gimme Shelter"?????????? I would love to see Rosario Dawson win an Oscar. This could be the "Precious" of the year if its directed correctly.

Anne Hathaway won't live up for in the film for being lead, her role is really small and I also think Linney will be support (as Field).

About Les Miserables the roles that got recognition at Oliver/Tony/Drama Desk were:

Jean Valjean - Hugh Jackman (lead)
Javert - Russell Crowe (lead)
Éponine - Samantha Barks (supporting)
Cosette - Amanda Seyfried (supporting)
Enjolras - Aaron Tveit (supporting)

I really think Hathaway could make a impression and get over Seyfried, for example and I bet Crowe will do like Zeta-Jones and Hudson and will go to supporting and this could hurt Tveit in bases that since 91' the supporting actor category has never more had two actors from the same movie.

I really don't see Rock of Ages doing well. It might be how Hairspray performed before: Globes love it, Oscars didn't even give notice.

BTW, has anybody seen the original DJANGO?  Just wondering why and how you think Tarantino is going to make that hyper-violent cult film Oscar friendly.

I have copies of at least seven Django films, and the thought that any similar effort would be a future Oscar contender was not foremost on my mind when seeing any of them.

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing at the idea of World War Z being a major Oscar contender. No way would the Academy go for that.

Prometheus on the other hand, if the script synopsis thats around the internets is anywhere near what the final film will be like and the trailer wasn't all hype, could go over really well. Alien should have been a major player back in '79.
