I know it's super early but what have you liked from the first 24 days of the new eligibility period, and what artists do you think will be huge contenders at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards? I really hope we go back to the old format where male and female performances are split. if the nominees where decided today. Album of the Year Mylo Xyloto - Coldplay Stronger - Kelly Clarkson Ceremonials - Florence + The Machine Record of the Year "Princess of China" "Shake it Out" Best New Artist Mayer Hawthorne Alexandra Stan Scotty McCreery Dev Pop Vocal Album Ceremonials - Florence + The Machine Stronger - Kelly Clarkson Pop Solo Performance "Marry The Night" - Lady GaGa "Shake it Out" - Florence + the Machine "Honestly" - Kelly Clarkson "It Will Rain" - Bruno Mars |

I think Kelly will definitely contend for those categories next year... I hope she makes it into Record or Song of the year for "Dark Side". And I think she'll either sumbit "Dark Side" or "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" for Pop solo. It's gonna be Huge! |

I don't see Gaga repeating Pop Album, or even getting an Album of the Year nomination, if Marry The Night makes an impact I see her landing a Pop solo nod, or for some other track from BTW.

I think Coldplay and Kelly Clarkson could both definitely be contenders, but Coldplay obviously has the previous pedigree to be a major player and still be remembered when the 2013 rolls around. They've already scored previous nominations and wins in the General Field in the past, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they were to repeat there. 'Mylo Xyloto' is a bit divisive, but I personally think it's great and there are some songs on there that could be huge GF players ("Princess of China", "Hurts Like Heaven", "Charlie Brown"). Kelly Clarkson will absolutely be in the mix for the Pop categories, and depending on if she actually releases "Dark Side" like she's hinted at, I think it could be a GF submission for sure. Florence + The Machine is a little more mysterious. "Dog Days Are Over" didn't do nearly as well as I thought it would, and neither did 'Lungs' as a whole. Hopefully, if 'Ceremonials' lives up to the hype, Florence can get back in the game in a big way. "Shake It Out" is a fantastic song. |

2012 is doomed to be another great year in music. Madonna is confirmed to release sometime in the spring, Taylor Swift is releasing sometime too, and I wouldnt doubt Christina releasing as well. |

I doubt Kelly Clarkson gets anywhere near the General field. Her upcoming album will probably be a commercial disappointment and will be long forgotten come next year. |

Of all of the contenders you've listed here I don't see any of them garnering nominations but COLDPLAY, their name is big enough to land'em nominations in both the General and the Rock Field. In fact, I think that the rock/alternative field will be the strongest of 2012 with releases from METALLICA/LU REED, THE BLACK KEYS and the return of THE CRANBERRIES... I believe that Drake's TAKE CARE will be nominated anywhere: he's a building-buzz artist. I don't see Clarkson, Aguilera, Florence, Mars, the idol Guy or Alexandra Stan as great contenders, they all could be forgotten by next year. GaGa will earn some nominations I'm sure, either for another BTW song or for new material... and by the way, I wouldn't count out Adele in Record or Song of The Year for any of her upcoming singles if she loses AOTY next febraury... what the heck, she may even submit somethng from her upcoming LIVE album... if Beyoncè can, why she wouldn't? |

I love Lana Del Rey. "Blue Jeans" is an incredible song. I haven't heard to much of her though aside from that song and Video Games. Does she have any plans to release a full length LP this year or next? |
