right now i see the following albums to be nominated for ALBUM OF THE YEAR:
1. Drake, Take Care | rap slot -> very good sales, reviews & two top 10 singles on B100
2. The Black Keys, El Camino | rock/alt slot -> good sales & great reviews are all that matters.there is always one rock/alt nominee!!
3. Carrie Underwood, Blown Away | country slot -> good sales & good reviews, if the single Blown Away will chart higher than now I will have no doubts, right now this prediction is on shaky ground.

the 2 other slots will go to Black Eyed Peas/Lady Gaga, Katy Perry/Lady Gaga & Rihanna/Bruno Mars of this year
4. Rihanna, Talk That Talk ? | pop slot -> if WHYB goes to no. 1, it will be our trashy pop nominee...
5. either Kelly Clarkson, Stronger or Maroon 5, Overexposed | pop slot -> depends of the effect Dark Side & One More Night will have on the charts...

Rihanna won't get back-to-back AOTY noms.  If anything, Justin Bieber will fill the commercial Pop slot for AOTY.

to fill this slot, he first needs to have some no. 1 single on BH100 from the album.

Last year, there was no rap or country spot. I wouldn't be surprised if pop was looked over. Justin just doesn't seem like he will have enough support for that pop slot. It's not like "Boyfriend" was a HUGE smash or that Believe is smashing hard. Look at its second week sales.

B.O.B ft Taylor Swift "Both Of Us"

I think this is a contender for Best Rap/Sung Collabration because it's diffrent, you don't normally see a rapper and and country singer do a song together.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I just realized that "We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae might not be eligible for Record of the Year, as it was released as a single on September 20, 2011, which was during last year's eligibility period. I don't think the ROTY category is as lenient as the Best New Artist category.

In recent years, some songs that were ineligible for Record of the Year after they became hits, simply because they were released as singles in September, and didn't really take off and become hits until the following year: Maroon 5's "This Love" and Train's "Hey Soul Sister."

So, don't be surprised if "We Are Young" is snubbed from Record of the Year, or surprisingly doesn't show up on submission forms.
A pity, since I think this is one of the best songs of the year.

yeah, and NEED YOU NOW by Lady Antebellum was released on August 24, 2011 but the label submitted it rightfully for the Grammy awards with the eligibility period starting on September 1 due to the impact this record had during that period...
if the label submits WE ARE YOUNG, it can be nominated without problems, especially becuase they didn't submitted it for the last eligiblity period :)

For some of you says Believe will be nominated AOTY is totally rubbish. The album is wreck from beginning to end, there's only two good songs on new album. If he want to nominated for AOTY, he needs to have back-to-back hit to score the nomination. Bieber songs only sell well on first week only and when it released to the radio, it will flop. Just look at his chart history.

Actually, "Boyfriend" is the highest charting song of his career, and is still doing well on the charts. Not to mention there has been alot of buzz about his album (which BTW is ALOT better then "My World 2.0"), and he is getting alot of buzz for the song "All Around the World" featuring Ludacris.

Really? When's the last time there wasn't a pop album nominated for Album of the Year?

also, i'm just listening to Overexposed by Maroon 5. it's a very good pop album. IF Payphone hits no. 1 and One More Night hits Billboard top 10, i can definetely see it as a contender not only for Pop Album, but Album of the Year...

Overexposed is godawful. Easily the band's worst album...if you could even say that the whole band worked on the album. And the reviews are reflecting that too.

I would count Ne-Yo as more of a pop than R&B artist.
