Every year theres always a few shocking snubs. Which artist are we overhyping this year for multiple nominations ?

I think most of us are reaching with Beyonce in the R&B Field. I can easly see her being snubbed.

I think Nicki Minaj may on show up in BNA and Best Rap Album.

Call me crazy but GaGa may only show up in Best Pop Vocal Album. "Judas" and "You and I" werent as big as "Bad Romance" and we dont know how the Pop field will embrace w/o major hit just yet.

I dont think "E.T" will be nominated.

UNDERHYPED:

I think Kelly Clarkson will show up in Best Pop Solo Performance. That song did well on multiple formats and she performed it everywhere.

I think J.Cole will show up in BNA (with Nicki Minaj).

I think Jacki Evancho will show up in BNA.

I still think "Look At Me Now" will show up in both Rap Performance and Rap Song.

Party Rock Anthem" in Pop Duo/Group.

Kelly deserves nothing for MKIA. That song is laughable and should not get into Pop solo over the other worthy nominees. I'd be shocked if GaGa only got 1 nomination

I think at this point someone who could go either way (snubbed or over nominated) would be Kanye.

Bon Iver is being overhyped. I see at most a BNA nom in the general field. I wouldn't be shocked if they just get a few nods in the genre categories.

For awhile I thought Gaga might be snubbed in the GF but now I'm leaning more towards her getting back in. Does the BRP do make up nominations? Bad Romance was such a noteable snub that I could almost see that working in her favor.

Bon Iver and Jason Aldean. I don't get the fixation on either of them.

I think Taylor Swift could be snubbed in the general field. She won Album of the Year just two years ago, so maybe they'll give the requisite country slot to Jason Aldean or Brad Paisley.

I think Lady Gaga could also be at risk of faling out of the Album of the Year race. But that's just a hunch. Pop will surely be represented by Adele, though of course they could both make it in.

Wow where do I begin?

Overhyped:

Jason Aldean. I still have no idea who the hell he is, nor any of his songs. It seems nothing hes really released has been remotely ground breaking, so I dont get why hes being held up like Lady Antebellum was last year.

Tony Bennett in AOTY. Please for an album full of covers that only sold well since Gaga and Amy were in it?

Bruno Mars in AOTY. I dont understand this one, his album is no longer relevent and is a piece of garbage. If he actually got an AOTY nod it would be downright worse than Katy, BEP, and Beyonce IMO.

The fact that Katy Perry according to everyone, is a sure bet lock for ROTY & SOTY for "Firework" like "Rolling in the Deep". No comment

Beyonce sweeping the R&B field and getting into the pop field again. I think this is her time to recieve minimum nominations and go home empty handed.

Lil Wayne Sweeping the Rap field, and actually getting into the GF field for the atrocious "How to Love"

Underhyped

Gaga actually submitted the more critical tracks Y&I and Judas over the other two garbage singles. Either would be worthy in SOTY.

Christina Aguilera's magnificant "Bound to You" going to be snubbed in SOTY & pop vocal, when that song is more superior than whats going to actually get into the GF. (I'm more talking to you tasteless voters.)

P!nk who should be a lock for any category for the highly emotional and brilliant "Perfect",

Taylor Swift in every category she submitted. (She deserves to get in everywhere, she really elevated her material this time around.)

Britney Spears! Same comment with Taylor.

Jason Aldean in  the General Field

Lady Gaga. She will get a couple of pop nods only.

Beyonce. I see one nod for her at the most (R&B Album), and even that one I'm not convinced.

Bon Iver for Album of the Year. I have no freacking clue why they are being brought up. Some people seem to think that they'll get in simply because the Academy embraced indie/alternative last year. But guess what? Bon I've is no arcade fire. AF was relevant and although the album is great Bon over just Ian what ARcade Fire was last year.

I agree. I'm not sold on Bon Iver making AOTY. I don't think the Grammys will nominated such an album in the GF.
To be honest I'm beginning to believe that Foster the People could actually take the Alternative Rock slot because their album is more accesible.
And if you wanna make sense

I agree that Jason Aldean may be overhyped a tad, but it's understandable. Remember, there will be a country act in the general field. That contigency is too powerful in the NARAS. Among this year's crop of artists, (some are saying Taylor, Jason, and Lady A) who's music dominated the mainstream (beyond just "country"), it was really Jason's banner year. He had a presence on the Hot 100, had one of the top selling albums of the year (number 1 by a male solo artist), and had a multi-format smash hit. If country music HAS to have a presence, he could be their representative in the general field, if for no other reason than for lack of a better candidate. I'm predicting him to score one GF nod.

I think it's very realistic that Kelly Clarkson could sneak into Pop Solo. Despite MKIA being a rather week song, Kelly sings the be-jesus out of it. There's no denying the leveal vocal talent displayed on the song. I can think of several artists who have gotten into the pop cateogries with bad material but a good performance.

Under-hyped:   I think that Lady Gaga's Born this Way album was really groundbreaking on many levels, but it is not getting much buzz for the Grammys this time.  Then again-- it is competing against Adele's 21 and I do believe Adele will sweep everything this year, deservedly so.

Tony Bennett Duets II:   I think this album could sneak in and steal Adele's Album win, but it will be a dark horse threat. It has alot of firepower in terms of Grammy favorites and mega stars collaboratiing with Tony. Plus, he is a sentimental favorite.   I am still predicting Adele to win though...but I would not count out this album.

Kanye:   I am kind of feeling sorry for him as his album was outstanding, and I am not really a big rap fan. So the fact that I enjoyed it anyway says alot.  The artistry and creativity it showed really impressed me.   In any other year-- I think he would win.

Kelly Clarkson & Pink:   Both of these ladies are killer vocalists and I really admire them. Both have strong songs in the running, but they are going to be overlooked, sadly, due to   Adele and Gaga's massive years in 2011.  I love Gaga and Adele so I am fine with either winning, but I hope Kelly gets a fighting chance next year when her album is eligible as it is really good. Pink is always overlooked, sadly, yet she is very talented. Even "Raise your Glass" was a huge hit for her.

In country music-- Little Big Town remains the perpetual under-dog, never getting any love due to their fierce competition in Lady Antebellum. But I think it is high time LBT gets some award show love. Their sound is beautiful, and their harmonies are the best in the business.

Brad Paisley's new album:   I think it is under-rated as well, though I am fine with Jason Aldean winning as he is always the under-dog too.   Brad's album has alot of great gems that have not seen the light of day yet, but Remind Me and Old Alabama were both really strong singles for him.  While I do not like every song on Jason's album, overall it was a strong album and one of the best of the year.

   Over-hyped:

I think Taylor Swift is being over-hyped as usual, no offense. Fearless was a HUGE album for her and it admittedly had alot of catchy songs...but I still do not think it deserved Album of the year over Lady Gaga or Dave Matthews Band, or even Black Eyed Peas that year. But be that as it may, her new album has not had any massive hits even on country radio, and none have really crossed over successfully to pop like her past efforts had. I don't feel that the songs are very "Catchy" as they lack big hooks. I found her new album rather dull, as all the songs are about teen love and nothing else. It gets old. Sorry.

Bon Iver:   Honestly, I know one song of theirs, and I don't get all the sudden hype lately. They seem very talented, but certainly do not deserve Album of the year. I don't get it.

Foster the People:   Ok, one good song does not make a Grammy sweep. People are predicting them in so many categories that it amazes me.   I think they could win Record or Song, but that is it.

Lady Antebellum:  I do love this band, so don't shoot me...but their new album, "Own the Night", is not their strongest effort. It is eligible this year for Grammy consideration and will most likely get a nomination, but I don't think it has earned Album of the year over Jason or Brad Paisley.   They are super talented, but this new album lacks upbeat songs, and is all ballads.  They are pretty ballads, but nothing extraordinary or groundbreaking.

Tony Bennett is "underhyped?" Just about everybody and their mom are saying he will get into AOTY and win over the other contenders.

I honestly think that man will be relegated to Traditional Pop and Pop Group. I may be underhyping him, but everyone else thinks he is such a sure bet for big nominations.

OMG, Fearless was the only album of that horrendous line-up that year which rightfully belonged in AOTY.

OVERHYPING

Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - It's one of those records that critics and fans LOVE but many people felt was unaccessible and overrated. He didn't produce the big blockbuster hit necessary in order for a RAP album to recieve the major nominations (i.e. ROTY, AOTY, SOTY). This could also be said for WTT. Jay-Z has NEVER been a major factor in the General Field outside his collaberations with Pop Divas. His best chances will always remain in Hip-Hop because there isn't much competition in those categories. If the GRAMMYs were to nominate a Rap album this year, I believe it would be Tha Carter IV. Out of all of the Hip-Hop records in 2011, it had the best first week sales and generated the most top 10 hits.

UNDERHYPING
Beyonce - 4,  I'll say it again...Beyonce is the music industry's favorite artist. I wouldn't be surprised if she showed up in AOTY (even though I'm not predicting her). This era might have been dead in the water, but I'm sure it'll be regarded as the record that showed her "artistic" breakthrough from mega Pop hits to more "serious" music making *rolls eyes*. She won't win R&B Performance, but Album and Traditional Performance seem realistic. She should've submitted "Love on Top" instead of "Countdown".

Nominating Tha Carter IV over either My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy or Watch The Throne would be a low for the Grammys.

Yeah, CIV debuted with close to a million and had some decent sized hits, but the critics didn't praise it as much as CIII and it certainly didn't make as much impact as CIII. CIV is merely an album that sold well initially; that's it. The NARAS do not need to nominate Lil Wayne this year, whereas CIII warranted a nomination for Lil Wayne's breakthrough success and critical acclaim, and I honestly don't see him nominated outside of the rap field. He hasn't proven himself as a Grammy juggernaut to get in for anything.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy did go platinum and produced a couple of decent sized hits. While I thought MBDTF would get swept under the rug due to the loss of hype, I do think Watch The Throne, which has also sold over a million units since its release, has rejuvenated some of Kanye's buzz. Technically, Kanye is the best selling rap artist of the eligibility period.
