Gold Derby's music experts David Schnelwar and Darrin Dortch agree on who will win and should win this award as well as the spoiler. First up in this field was Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
BEST MALE COUNTRY VOCAL PERFORMANCE
“Macon,” Jamey Johnson
“Cryin’ for Me,” Toby Keith
“Turning Home,” David Nail
“Til Summer Comes Around,” Keith Urban
“Getting’ You Home,” Chris Young
David's take: Keith Urban is the frontrunner to win. If Urban wins, this would be his fourth win this decade in the category, making him equal to John Mayer and Alicia Keys (who both have four wins in their gender genre categories). Jamey Johnson could possibly win. His album "The Guitar Song" ranked number five on Rolling Stone Magazine's "30 Best Albums of 2010." Toby Keith, David Nail, and Chris Young are not likely to upset.
Will win: Keith Urban, "Til Summer Comes Around"
Should win: Keith Urban, "Til Summer Comes Around"
Spoiler: Jamey Johnson, "Macon"
Darrin's take: Urban is a favorite here and should have little trouble winning his fourth Grammy since his track will be freshest in voters’ minds. Urban’s latest album, which was released after the eligibility cutoff, will likely garner multiple nominations next year. Watch out for Johnson, though, since he’s nominated for Best Country Album.
Will win: Keith Urban, "Til Summer Comes Around"
Should win: Keith Urban, "Til Summer Comes Around"
Spoiler: Jamey Johnson, "Macon"
