Experts pick 'The Descendants' to win New York Film Critic Circle Award for Best Picture when the vote is held Nov. 29. It's the choice of seven of the eleven pundits polled by Gold Derby while two naysayers believe "The Artist" will prevail and two others pick "The Tree of Life."
"The Descendants" helmer Alexander Payne is the heavy favorite to win Best Director, but, curiously, star George Clooney doesn't lead the race for Best Actor. "The Artist" star Jean Dujardin has the most votes in that contest (five), compared to three for Clooney.
Meryl Streep ("The Iron Lady") is the fave for Best Actress. The pundits predict Albert Brooks ("Drive") will win Best Supporting Actor and Jessica Chastain ("The Help," "The Tree of Life," "Take Shelter") will triumph as Best Supporting Actress.
