BEST RAP ALBUM
Frontrunner: "Watch The Throne" - Jay-Z & Kanye West
Spoiler: "Pink Friday" - Nicki Minaj
There is no Rap disc contending for Album of the Year this year. It is likely that the two Kanye West albums split the vote. And it is possible they will do so again in this category making Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" the champ. If Kanye West wins, it will be for his collaboration with Jay-Z for "Watch the Throne." While West leads with seven overall nominations this year, Minaj beat him at both the MTV Video Awards and the American Music Awards in the Rap races. It is possible that Nicki Minaj's winning streak could continue at this year's Grammys.
BEST DANCE RECORDING
Frontrunner: "Call Your Girlfriend" - Robyn
Spoiler: "Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites" - Skrillex
Eight of the fourteen winners of this award have been women. Robyn is the sole female representative in this race. She was the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" during the voting period. Her toughest competition is Skrillex who has the most overall bids among the five nominees with five, including Best New Artist.
