"To have this happen was just a bit bonkers; it was completely mad," said Cat Deeley about her first Emmy nomination last year as Best Reality Host for "So You Think You Can Dance." "Truly my cup brimmeth over that day."
In a video chat with senior editors Rob Licuria and Chris Beachum, Deeley recalled that she screamed over and over in the early morning hours of the nominations announcement last July. She called her mom overseas in London, was interviewed by fellow competitor Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol") on his radio show, and then rushed off to tape another episode her Fox hit show, a program she has hosted since 2006.
She and Seacrest went on to lose that race at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony to Jeff Probst ("Survivor") who has prevailed in all four years of the category. The other nominees were Tom Bergeron ("Dancing With the Stars") and Phil Keoghan ("The Amazing Race").
Deeley revealed she and Seacrest have a plot to take down Probst at this year's show if nominated again. "I'm going to create some kind of disturbance. He's going to stick his leg out as Jeff goes up to the podium to accept the award, and then it's every man for himself," she said.
