Stars and producers from cancelled soaps talk about life after their shows ended: "'The things that I miss most about ['One Life to Live'] are the work and the people," says [Erika Slezak], who played Victoria Lord (and her many alter-egos) for more than 40 years ... 'One Life' exec producer Frank Valentini moved from New York to Los Angeles soon after the show finished taping its last episode, so he could assume exec producer duties at 'General Hospital,' ABC's remaining soap. But he hasn't completely put 'One Life' to rest. 'It's been challenging living in a different city and moving my life out to the West Coast,' Valentini says. 'I don't think I've fully mourned the end of "One Life." I'm trying to prepare myself for seeing everyone again.' Melissa Claire Egan, nominated in supporting actress for her role as Annie on 'All My Children,' which went off the air after a 41-year run in September, now has a life very similar to the one she lived for six years in Pine Valley. The actress is one of many former 'All My Children' players who've been hired over the past several months at CBS' 'The Young and the Restless.'" CHICAGO TRIBUNE
Apparent murder-suicide at Daytime Emmys venue: "Two people have been found dead in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide at the Beverly Hilton, just hours before the Daytime Emmy Awards are being held at the posh hotel, police said Saturday. Police responding to a report of a shooting late Friday found a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds in a hotel room, Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen said ... The luxury hotel was also the site of Whitney Houston's death in February. The singer drowned in the bathtub of her fourth-floor room, just a few hours before she was to attend record executive Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party in the ballroom downstairs. The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are scheduled to be held there later Saturday. The awards ceremony that honors the best in soap operas and talk shows will be broadcast live on cable news channel HLN." ASSOCIATED PRESS
Barbara Walters tells all about "The View" producer and Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement recipient Bill Geddie: "Barbara Walters will present Bill Geddie, executive producer on 'The View' as well as 'The Barbara Walters Specials' and 'The 10 Most Fascinating People,' with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Saturday. Her friend and collaborator since 1988, when he began producing her ABC specials, Geddie will be honored for his contributions as a writer, producer and director during a television career that has spanned more than three decades. 'When we began "The View" in August 1997,' says Walters, 'we were told it did not have a prayer, and now it’s going into its 16th year. It would not have happened without Bill.' If Geddie has one flaw, says Walters, it is his utter lack of fashion sense, Walters laughs: 'He has bad taste, but he doesn’t realize how bad. If it were up to Bill, I would wear jeans and T-shirts every day.'" HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
