What will be the biggest surprises among Emmy nominations?

The line-up at the Emmy Awards includes many of the same nominees year after year. However, Emmy voters still shock us by defying their usual conventions and nominating left-field contenders. (Read about their possible snubs of perennial favorites here.)

For example, last year, "Game of Thrones" landed a Drama Series nomination as had "True Blood" the year before, both overcoming the long-standing bias against fantasy shows. And Louis C.K. reaped a Comedy Actor bid last year for the little-seen first season of "Louie"; this year, he is a frontrunner for that prize.

TV academy members also pull off jaw-droppers when they finally getting around to recognizing long-running shows and their stars. Two years ago, Matthew Fox ("Lost") and both Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton ("Friday Night Lights) landed their first lead acting bids well into the run of their series. And in 2009, Sarah Silverman ("The Sarah Silverman Program") and Jermaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords") were unexpectedly cited in the lead comedy categories.

Our forum posters have been debating what will be the biggest surprises when this year's Emmy nominations are announced Thursday. Below, just a sample of their thoughts. Join in the discussion here.

"The Office" and "Glee" get nominated for Comedy Series;

Patrick J. Adams ("Suits") is nominated for Drama Actor;

Melissa McCarthy ("Mike & Molly") is nominated for Comedy Actress.

Teri Hatcher and/or Kathryn Joosten ("Desperate Housewives") get nominated for Comedy Supporting Actress;

Felicity Huffman ("Desperate Housewives") is nominated for Comedy Actress.

Kip Hackman

Kaley Cuoco ("The Big Bang Theory") is nominated for Comedy Supporting Actress. This would be a huge shock, but Ihave always liked her character and it would be pretty awesome that she gets recognized.

Charles Carter

Katey Sagal ("Sons of Anarchy") finally gets her first Emmy nomination -- Drama Actress;

Lea Michele and/or Naya Rivera ("Glee") get nominated for Comedy Actress and Comedy Supporting Actress respectively;

"The Middle" scores some major nominations.

"Hot in Cleveland" gets at least one Guest Comedy acting nomination. Some of the guests that can possibly sneak in are Don Rckles, Ed Asner, Sean Hayes, Doris Roberts, Kristin Chenoweth, Rhea Perlman and Georgia Engel. I personally think Don, Doris and Kristin have the best chance even though I loved Rhea and Georgia's performances.
