TV Guide guru Michael Schneider played our Emmy pundit derby like a classic dark horse. He didn't enter our competition until the home stretch – giving us his predictions only 40 hours before nominations were unveiled – then he zoomed ahead of 16 experts with lightning speed, reaping the highest percentage of correct forecasts (76%).

Schneider's TV Guide colleague, editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum, came in second place with 72%, tying with Lynn Elber (Associated Press). All three gurus predicted 18 categories. Three experts forecasted more – that is, 22 races, with Elena Howe (L.A. Times) leading the pack with 69%.

Rick Porter (Zap2It) was the only expert polled by Gold Derby who correctly foresaw Hugh Bonneville ("Downton Abbey") nabbing a bid for Best Drama Actor. Porter, Ken Tucker (Entertainment Weekly) and Jill Serjeant (Reuters) were the only gurus who picked Kathy Bates ("Harry's Law") to be nommed for Best Drama Actress.

Out of our 17 pundits, only five picked "Girls" to be nominated for Best Comedy Series: Robert Bianco (USA Today), Maria Elena Fernandez (Newsweek Daily Beast), Elber and Maggie Furlong and Mo Ryan (HuffPo TV).

Four seers knew that "Parks and Recreation" would be snubbed in that race: Bianco, Furlong, Howe and Serjeant. Three gurus correctly predicted all six entries for Best Drama Series: Howe, Fernandez and Kristin Dos Santos (E! Online).
