You decide: What film will win the Oscar for Best Costume Design?

Last year, the Oscar for Best Costume Design went to the 1920s-set silent film "The Artist." Its designer, Mark Bridges, could be nominated again this year for "The Master."

Costume Design overwhelmingly favors period films. In the last 20 years, only one contemporary film has won: "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." In that time, three fantasy films have won: "Dracula," "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," and "Alice in Wonderland."

"Dracula's" winning designer, Eiko Ishioka, died of cancer in January 2012. She could earn a posthumous nomination this year for another fantasy film: Tarsem Singh's "Mirror Mirror."

Other fantasies in contention include "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" (Ann Maskrey and five-time Oscar winner Richard Taylor) and "Snow White and the Huntsman" (three-time winner Colleen Atwood).

Many of the previous winners of this category have been lavish costume dramas, including "Marie Antoinette," "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," "Shakespeare in Love," and "The Duchess," among others.

Such lavish period films in this year's race include "Anna Karenina" (two-time nominee Jacqueline Durran), "Les Miserables" (Paco Delgado), "Lincoln" (Joanna Johnston), and "Django Unchained" (two-time nominee Sharen Davis).
