News Nuggets: Angus T. Jones slams 'Two and a Half Men'
Angus T. Jones slams "Two and a Half Men" for religious reasons: "Here we go again … On 'Two And A Half Men,' Angus T. Jones‘ character was always looking up to his uncle, played by Charlie Sheen. Now Jones is emulating Sheen in real life with a tirade bashing the racy sitcom. 'If you watch "Two And A Half Men," please stop watching "Two And A Half Men,"' the religious teenager says in a testimonial for Forerunner Christian Church ... 'I’m on "Two And A Half Men," and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it, and filling your head with filth ... If I am doing any harm, I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be contributing to the enemy’s plan,' says Jones, who has become very serious about his faith in the past several months. 'You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t. I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the Bible says and being on that television show.'" DEADLINE
Who are the top Grammy contenders for Pop Solo Performance: "With all the hooplah surrounding the Grammys and their upcoming nominations special 'The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music's Biggest Night' on December 5th, all of us music lovers are getting anxious wondering who will be nominated and who will be left out ... Pop Solo Performance is still a relatively new category as The Grammys have narrowed down several awards from a relatively larger size to a smaller one. This used to be divided between the men and women, each having an award, but now its as one. Last year's winner (no shock here) was Adele with 'Someone Like You.' So who will be the men and women potentially contending this year? Here are some good guess-timations." EXAMINER
Warner Bros. aiming for Golden Globe nominations for "The Dark Knight Rises" with FYC ads: "Since we already knew that 'The Dark Knight Rises' was enjoying a pretty enthusiastic campaign by Warner Brothers in the hopes of getting it an Oscar trophy or two, it probably shouldn’t be too surprising that they’re also campaigning for the Golden Globes, which air on January 13. The Academy Award nominations will be announced shortly after the Golden Globes, and so it’s unlikely that a win there will secure them a nomination…but a win at the Golden Globes is often seen as improving your odds to actually win an Oscar if you’re already nominated, so expect to see more of these posters ..." Sasha Stone makes the case for "Argo" at the Oscars: "One of the best screenplays by a long, long way is Chris Terrio’s walnut-tight script with zingers throughout, alternating between funny, suspenseful and moving all at once. But coming off of two movies that were underrated, I think, [Ben Affleck] has hit it out of the park with the crowdpleasing 'Argo.' Admittedly, it was easier to praise it without the other late-breaking films stealing attention but once the smoke clears 'Argo' will be well remembered." AWARDS DAILY
Gregory Ellwood wonders why "Rise of the Guardians" struggled at the box office: "There is something very disheartening about the box office performance of 'Rise of the Guardians' this past holiday weekend. When Paramount and DreamWorks Animation first previewed footage from 'Guardians' early this year there was genuine excitement in the media and animation circles. After surprising moviegoers with an unexpectedly adult-friendly 'Puss in Boots' and somehow improving critically with 'Kung Fu Panda 2,' DWA seemed intent on continuing to break the mold with their upcoming slate ... In fact, most awards pundits had it as a legit contender for best animated picture of the year. Then something strangely went wrong." IN CONTENTION
