News Nuggets: Hugh Jackman gets Walk of Fame, Moving Image tributes
Todd Martens surveys Grammy's Best New Artist field: "Indeed, Carly Rae Jepsen and her inescapable 'Call Me Maybe' is far from the only notable newcomer over the last 12 months. Album sales remain hard to come by, and that's allowed names such as The Lumineers and Fun. to nest in the upper echelon of the pop charts alongside household names such as [Taylor Swift] and Adele. If the Grammy telecast isn't necessarily geared toward discovery, the new artist field remains one category that can make new fans of lesser-known performers. To this day, it's still one of the more unpredictable Grammy categories; its prize in 2012 was won by avant-softie Bon Iver. The year prior, the Grammys recognized Esperanza Spalding as its best new artist, a rare win for a jazz artist." LOS ANGELES TIMES
What films are ahead for the Best Film Editing Oscar? "'Lincoln' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' both weigh in about two and a half. And 'Les Miserables,' 'The Dark Knight Rises' and 'Cloud Atlas' all take over two hours and 45 minutes to sit through. Indeed, the only serious Oscar contenders clocking in under two hours are 'The Impossible' (114 minutes) and 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' (a mere 93 mins). But is brevity likely to be rewarded when it comes to the Best Editing Oscar this year? Probably not. Generally speaking, the Academy tend to reward micro editing (impressively cut scenes) rather than macro editing ..." INDIEWIRE

40th Annual Daytime Emmys make changes, call for entries: "As it prepares to celebrate its ruby anniversary, several category changes are coming to the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, including a new category for Outstanding Culinary Host. Hosts of such food-focused shows as ABC's 'The Chew' now can enter in a separate category than the hosts of ABC's more talk-centric 'The View,' for example. Travel shows now have their own Outstanding Travel Program category, and hosts of such shows can submit their work for recognition in the Outstanding Travel/Lifestyle Host category. Additionally, children's show categories -- both animated and live action -- now will be broken out into preschool-age (age 5 and younger) and children's (age 6 and older). The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) on Monday also announced its call for entries and judges and posted a timeline of deadlines." BROADCASTING AND CABLE
