'Broken' pulls off upset at British Independent Film Awards

"Broken" – a drama about a London girl who witnesses a violent crime – pulled off an upset for Best Picture at the British Independent Film Awards over horrorfest "Berberian Sound Studio," which won four consolation prizes: Best Director (Peter Strickland), Best Actor (Toby Jones), Technical Achievement and Production.  Below, the list of winners. Best Actress: Andrea Riseborough, "Shadow Dancer"

Best International Independent Film: "The Hunt"

Best Documentary: "The Imposter"

Best Debut Director: Bart Layton, "The Imposter"

Most Promising Newcomer: James Floyd, "My Brother the Devil"



Best Achievement in Production: "Berberian Sound Studio"

Best Technical Achievement: Joakim Sundstrom and Stevie Haywood (sound design), "Berberian Sound Studio"
