Our two music awards editors -- Darrin Dortch and David Schnelwar -- agree on the winner of Best Rap Performance at this Sunday's Grammys.
Drake f./ Lil Wayne - “HYFR (Hell Yeah F***ing Right)” -- Darrin, David
Jay-Z & Kanye West - “N****s in Paris”
Nas - “Daughters”
Kanye West f./ Big Sean, Pusha T & 2 Chainz - “Mercy”
Young Jeezy f./ Jay-Z & Andre 3000 - “I Do”
Darrin's analysis
Jay-Z and Kanye West are beloved in the rap field. They are a near lock to win for “N****s in Paris” which is nominated for Best Rap Song and was a huge pop hit.
Kanye’s popular “Mercy” is also nominated here and in Rap Song as is Nas’ “Daughters.” Nas is the spoiler here if the Kanye songs split votes.
David's analysis
Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Otis” won Best Rap Performance last year. They are both double nominees in this category this year.
Drake & Lil Wayne’s “HYFR” won Best Hip-Hop Video at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards and could upset if Jay-Z’s and Kanye’s nominations split the vote.
Nas is nominated throughout the Rap Field this year and has yet to win a Grammy.
